What you’ll coverAbout the courseThis is a specialist course, whichemphasises highly creative textile designfor fashion, interiors and personalexpression and celebrates the use of bothtraditional and sophisticated newtechnology. You'll develop textile designskills and gain an in-depth understandingof a constantly changing industry.

How you’ll learnYou'll develop and realise your potentialthrough a varied programme of studio-based projects, lectures, debates,competitions, live project work, groupcritiques, field visits, tutorials, technicaldemonstrations, written assignments,seminars and practical workshops.

Your careerTextiles is a global industry and offers youmany opportunities to travel as part ofyour career. This course will prepare youfor an exciting career in printed, knitted orwoven textiles. You could work as adesigner and also in a variety of rolessuch as buyer, merchandiser, stylist orillustrator in a wide range of organisationsassociated with the international textileindustry.

During the course you’ll be encouraged todevelop your own industry networks tohelp you get started after graduation. 

You’ll have the option of taking aplacement between the second and thirdyear to gain work experience and developyour CV.

OptionsYou’ll have the option to undertake a oneyear industrial placement which oncompletion, will give you the additionalqualification of the Diploma in ProfessionalPractice. You’ll study: ▪ Contemporary Issues In Professional

There is also the opportunity to study atpostgraduate level at the University ofDerby, on our MA Fashion and Textilescourse.

Where you will study: Derby Campus – Markeaton Street site.

Entry requirements: Academic – 260 UCAS tariff points, ofwhich at least 220 must be from yourInternational Baccalaureate or equivalentqualification.
