The General Secretary’s thoughts.

Take time and Make time to PrayOur dear Outreach readers

Greetings yet again from all of us here in the editorial

team, how our hearts are thankful to the Lord for leading and

taking us through another financial year and proving to us yet again that He is the same

Jehovah Jireh. Indeed he has provided all our needs Hallelujah!!

Summer has come and we are troubled…. I mean there is this problem of acute

power shortage. In some states, power cuts last upto 14hrs a day! People are almost

getting used to living without electricity. Recently, life came to a grinding halt in the

whole of the northern region as power grids failed and most of the northern cities

plunged into darkness...

Talking of power failure, we too experience this kind of problem spiritually, when

we are not connected to the source. Prayer is that vital connection which helps our

lives to illuminate and bring that light of the Love of God to those around us. Prayer is

also a powerful weapon that will affect lives, which the Lord has given every believer..

If we dig into the scriptures we find people like Abraham, Samuel, Esther, Jeremiah,

Daniel and Ezekiel, who stood in the Gap for others. It is pleading of the case before the

Father in Heaven. In fact God is seeking for such people as we read in the book of

Ezekiel. God expects us to take His burden and stand in the Gap for those around us.

We as the body of believers have been explicitly commanded to intercede.

What a blessed thing to have an advocate, the High Priest, our Lord Jesus Christ who

intercedes on our behalf. We also have the sweet Holy Spirit who prays for us with

groaning that words cannot express. How we need to learn to imitate our Lord.

Somebody has said “Prayer moves the hand that moves the world.” We are excited

as we witness the marvelous ways in which people are turning to the Lord, and we

know it is because of intense intentional, intercessory Prayer. We in this issue have

packed information for 61 days, so that one can intercede intelligently. This time we

have projected a prayer focus for each of the four zones, along with prayer points from

the fields, interspersed with prayer points from other departments as well. We also

have included a page for our Nation . Use this resource to fire up your prayer life, and

be part of an army which wages war by being on its knees.

God bless

From all of us here in the team

NELSON DINAKARAN, Editor

Our dear Prayer Partners,

For a Christian, prayer is likened to breathing. If we claim to believe in the true, eternal and only God, our Lord Jesus, we should spontaneously submit and surrender in humility 24/7. Charles Spurgeon said, “If any of you should ask me for an epitome of the Christian religion, I should say that it is in one word - prayer. Live and die without prayer, and you will pray long enough when you get to hell.”

Prayer is an attitude of the heart. It reveals our total dependence on God. When Jesus was about to be crucified, He repeatedly reminded His disciples to ‘Watch and Pray’. At Gethsemane, while Jesus was burdened with the sins of the whole world and His imminent death, He returned to His disciples and found them sleeping. "Simon," He said to Peter, "are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour? (Mark 14:37)

“Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is a daily admission of one's weakness. It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart,' said Mahatma Gandhi. We fill our time in the presence of God with our supplications. Above all, we need to be silent before God. It is hard for some of us to be silent in the presence of God and exercise our mind to be calm. "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." (Psalms 46:10)

Prayer may not change the circumstances around us; it changes us. Someone said, “The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays,” Prayer removes anxiety, doubt and distrust. As someone said, “Our work is to cast our care and God's work is to take care.”

‘Prayer is work. The experiences of many children of God demonstrate that it accomplishes far more than does any other form of work. It is also warfare, for it is one of the weapons in fighting the enemy. However, only prayer in the spirit is genuinely effectual.' – Watchmen Nee. We need to make time for prayer as we do for eating and working. Then we will not say we don't have time for prayer.

We hope that as we grow in the Lord, our prayer life will improve. We believe that in the strength of the Lord, we can conquer every soul, every tongue, every tribe and every nation for Jesus. Please use this Digest throughout the year as a useful fuel for prayer. Who knows, God may touch someone in some corner because you prayed for that person.

Yours in His Joyful Ministry, Rev P. John Wesley

Pray for our motherland.India is the tenth-largest economy in the world and the third largest by purchasing power parity adjusted exchange rates (PPP). On per capita basis, it ranks 140th in the world or 129th by PPP.Despite India's rise there is much to be prayed for. Some of the issues we face as a nation are listed below.Corruption--In 2012 India has been ranked 94th out of 176 countries in Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions Index. Most of the largest sources of corruption in India are entitlement programs and social spending schemes enacted by the Indian government. The problem of the criminalisation of politics and of the nexus among criminals, politicians and bureaucrats in India is the cause of this malady.Terrorism-- poses a significant threat to the state. Terrorism in India is basically two types-external and internal, external terrorism emerges from neighboring countries and internal terrorism emulates from religious or communal violence and ––Naxalite Maoist insurgency. Terror activities involve either Indian or foreign citizens.Violence against women--Gender Inequality is the Root cause "In India, girls are valued lesser than boys," and this results in many inequalities in society. Culturally, there's not enough exposure and conviction against those who are perpetrating acts of violence against women. The recent gang rape of the Delhi girl has brought about new laws on rape.Poverty-- an estimated 37.2% of Indians live below the country's national poverty line. The 2011 Global Hunger Index (GHI) Report places India amongst the three countries where the GHI between 1996 and 2011 went up from 22.9 to 23.7Malnutrition-- latest UNICEF data shows that one in three malnourished children worldwide are found In India, whilst 42% of the nation's children under five years of age are underweight. It also shows that a total of 58% of children under five surveyed were stuntedIlliteracy-- India currently has the largest illiterate population. Despite government programs, India's literacy rate increased only "sluggishly," it is estimated that by the year 2020 over 50% of the illiterate population will live in IndiaAids--estimated number of people living with HIV was 2.39 million in IndiaChallenge of unreached groups: According to missiologists, majority of the unreached people groups in the 10/40 window fall within the borders of India.Good news--Christian growth coming in the past 10 to 15 years has been very encouraging, and the growth may not all be in traditional churches. A substantial part may come from Jesus-follower groups within the Hindu culture.Pray for believers in India who face intimidation and violence from militant right wing fundamentalists. Ask the Lord to sustain them in their trials, and pray that the authorities will do more to defend them and bring their persecutors to justice .

Why and what to Pray for Missionaries? In Enemy territory– First and foremost Missionaries are in the forefront of a spiritual

warfare. They are the ones who venture into the enemy territory .The enemy has kept

the vast majority in bondage and has blinded their eyes for centuries, and he will not let

go of this control so easily, he will fight it out. The missionary needs to be sensitive to

the schemes and the strategies of the enemy (IICor 10:4), hence we need to pray that

the missionary is alert and sensitive and uses the scriptural weapon in battle.

Frustration—The missionary is in a foreign territory, where the Culture, Customs and

language is totally different from his, he has to get accustomed to the food that he may

not like, he has to acclimatize to the weather, his progress on these matters will be

definite stress factors, along with the indifference to his presence and message .

Struggles within A Missionary is a human being, hence he faces struggles within and

without. Common struggles could be Racial bias, Prejudice, selfishness, stubbornness

Ego etc. He has to deal with it consciously every day.

Loneliness—One of the greatest struggles a missionary may face is loneliness. This is

the area the enemy uses to discourage the missionary. He needs to remind himself of

the high calling he has received, this would propel him to move forward.

His Time with the Lord—The Missionary may have a hundred things on his mind, which

though necessary, are not more important than his own time with the Lord. He needs

stability and focus which comes only through the discipline of spending time with the

Lord. It makes the enemy happy to make us distracted and at times keep us busy but

not spending time with the Lord.

Inter Personal Relationship—The Missionary work is never done alone. It is a team

effort but working in a team has its own problems, specially when it comes to

relationships. The Enemy is busy bringing disunity within the team and succeeds in

stopping the progress of the work.

Health—Sometimes owing to the pressures of missionary life general health takes a

beating. Main problem for lack of efficiency and focus could be simple fatigue. A

Missionary needs to keep his body in fine shape, for which he needs ample rest and

quality times with family and times for recreation.

Children—A Missionary family faces the utmost crisis when they face the reality of

parting owing to children's education. This is the most stressful time for the missionary

and the children, especially when in the boarding children fall sick, it is bad. We need to

fervently pray that during these times both children and parents would experience the

Grace of God abundantly. – a compilation

Our Letter or a Phone call or a SMS or a personal visit, would mean a lot of

encouragement to a missionary, These gestures will help the missionary to Go

forward and do great exploits for The Lord.

Adieu Soldier

Mrs. Kimneo (Lamneikim) D/O Mr S. Chongloi and Mrs. Tingcha of

New Lambulane, 1st Street, Imphal, Manipur was born on 17-07-1966.

She was married to Rev. T. Sholal (IEM, church ministries, Manipur) on

the 21st October 1990. After their marriage she also joined her husband

and worked as a missionary so faithfully till her last breath. She was a

wonderful source of inspiration, support and encouragement to her

husband through which her husband could become a well known preacher of the

Word. She was a woman of prayer and dedication. Her beautiful way of welcoming

and entertaining the guests at her house is so remarkable and being remembered by

everyone and will be remembered also. She continuously prayed for the preaching

ministry of her husband and when God permitted she accompanied her husband in the

preaching assignments anywhere. It was a Youth Camp program at Sikkim organized by a Church from 25-27 October

2012 where Rev. T. Sholal was the speaker. Kim accompanied him. After this Youth

Camp she became very weak and later was diagnosed having AML-M3 (Blood Cancer)

on 17th November 2012. She was treated at Divine Hospital, Porompat, Imphal after

which she was referred to Rajiv Gandhi Institute & Research Centre, New Delhi. After a

month’s stay at Delhi, they were referred back to Imphal RIMS hospital. By the grace of

God after the treatment at RIMS she showed wonderful signs of improvement but,

after a few weeks, she became very weak and was re admitted at RIMS hospital. Her

husband along with all her family members tried their level best to give the best

treatment in order to save her life. But it was not in the hands of human beings. So, as

the Lord's call came upon her to leave this painful world and rest in peace in the

Father's bosom she bid farewell to everyone at 11:00 pm of 31st March 2013. She has

left behind her husband and two lovely sons. Their names are Mr. Paominlun doing Bsc

Agri and Paotinlien, STD IV. Please uphold our dear brother Sholal in your prayers. Rev. Mocha Maring, St. Secretary,, Manipur.Mrs. Omana Soundararaj, Secretary for women's ministries, gives this tribute.“Reminiscing the days, when you and I sat by ourselves and produced the phonetic 'p'

and 'b'; you with your shy smile tried to catch up with Linguistics at OTI! You were a

brand new bride then, watching and wondering at everything that was going on!

Reminiscing also that moment When I was leaving the campus on the last day, you

came hurriedly, lovingly and gently pushed that deep brown stole in my hand. When I

looked at you with my questioning eyes, you said with your soft sweet smile, “I wove

that stole myself as a “Thank You” to you from my side!” Kim, You faithfully bloomed in your isolated spot-Till the day that was your last! You were a remarkable woman! Goodbye! Meet you on the beautiful shore!!

3. Kutch, Gujarat.

Kutch is an arid area of 45612 Sq. Kms. It is surrounded by a desert in north and Gulf of Kutch in south. Kutch has a population of about 23 lakhs, being India's largest populated District bordering Pakistan. People groups in Kutch are; Brahmins, Jains, Khsatriyas, Patels, Charans, Ahirs, Rabaris, Harijans, Kolis, Jats (quite different from Jats of Haryana), Muslims etc. As a neighbor to Pakistan it has a higher percentage of Muslims than other parts of Gujarat. The literacy rate is very low, especially in rural areas. 75% people of Kutch speak a language known as Kutchi which is very much related to Sindhi. Of late, all the tools for evangelism are ready in Kutchi; like Jesus film, audio cassettes and CDs, radio programme, N.T. Portions, New Testament, etc. Only requirement is for laborers to come and use them. Kutchi Development Project (KDP) formed by selecting leaders from different missions encourages more and more missions to evangelize Kutch. Now there are nearly 10 missions working in Kutch. But, out of 11 Talukas, there are at least 7 where there is not a single worker.

Mr. Yacob & Packia Lakhmi from TN and Mr. Ramchullo Ralte & Juliet Fimromawi from Mizoram have entered Kutch in April. Pray that they may get houses in the villages and also for the initial field survey they will be doing. We are praying for many new contacts.

Pangi valley in Chamba District is one of the remotest tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh, owing to its most difficult access due to extremely difficult terrain and indifferent climatic conditions. The valley is hemmed in by lofty mountain chains of Pir Panjal & Zanskar which range from 18,000 ft to 21,000 ft.Due to heavy snowfall, road connectivity to Pangi valley is possible only from May – October through Lahaul valley which is 19 hours continuous travel from Kullu through treacherous mountain routes. Another route is through Chamba during July – October only which takes at least 19 hours to reach Pathankot in Punjab which is the nearest railway station. The only route accessible throughout the year is via Jammu and Kashmir which takes more than 24 hours. There are two people groups living in this valley – the Pangwals (Pangwale) and the Bhods. The Pangwale form 99.58% of the population, they are animists and Hindus. The Bhods form a small minority of 0.42% . They are Buddhists speaking the Bhoti languageMr. L. John Konyak & Mr. Peter Punii Ngade , are there since April. Pray for the initial settlement of our missionaries and also for their language and cultural adaptation.

Do you know?Purioks are scattered where their master Nyshis live in two districts, Seppa and Papumpare districts of Arunachal. They live in remote areas . In some areas even now people are primitive, eating fruits from the jungle and digging roots for their livelihood. Many die due to animal attack while they go for hunting in the deep jungle. That is why their population is not growing. Even today they remain as slaves for their master Nyshi. Arunachal Pradesh was once a closed state for the Gospel. Now IEM is serving both the Nyshis and their servants Purioks in Arunachal!!

We want to follow this God!

With God nothing is impossible!

Audio & video programmes in Kuvi

Mr. Nankilal Bairwa in Ranodiya village in Hadothi field was one of the Bhajan singers (Jagran) of idols. He used to go to many villages to conduct Hindu Bhajans (Sathsang).Whenever we used to talk to him about the Lord, he used to argue with us. He doesn't have children so he and his wife went to many pilgrimage places to pray for this. But nothing happened. His wife was always falling sick and one day our believer called her for the worship service in our house, she came and listened to God's word. She felt something different in her heart. whenever we prayed , she had headache and stomach pain and her head started to shake because of an evil spirit. Seeing all these, her husband said, “ we went to many temples but nothing happened, whenever you pray to the Lord Jesus Christ, her face is changing, so this God is the only real God, I want to follow this God “. And both of them decided to follow the Lord. One day, they called us and asked us to remove all the idols from their house. They openly confessed the Lord on 2nd Oct,2012. Now he is not going to sing Bhajan for idols, he is singing bhajans for the Living God. we are having Sunday worship service at his house. Through him we've got another contact in Getha village and we have started a worship service there also. Now Mr. Nankilal helps us in Evangelism work too. They are eagerly expecting to have a child, please pray for them

Mrs. Narender Kaur from Govindpura village in Bhatinda is a believer. For a long time after marriage she was childless. Her mother in law is an unbeliever. Her mother in law told her, “You don’t have children so come with me for Pujas. Then you will have children”. But Narender Kaur told her “I can not give worship to your idol”. Her mother in law became angry with her. Howerever Narender Kaur put her faith in Jesus Christ and she was praying. On 22 January 2013 Rev. Lawrence Gangte (SFM-North) came to Bathinda Field for prayer and especially prayed for Mrs. Narender Kaur. Now she is pregnant!! Thanks be to God.Rev.Rakesh kumar, Bhatinda.

Mr. Jebakumar, SFM, Media Ministries encouraged us to plan for Radio programs through FEBA India, when we were at IEM’s Family Get-together in May 2012. With our limitations we accepted this task. Our God enabled us. FEBA India started a Radio program in Kuvi from July 18th 2012. The name of the program is ‘nehe^ oso’ (Good Medicine) and it is being broadcast on Sundays at 7.30 to 7.45 pm at 1125 khz. We could also video shoot some dramas written by Cal & Joyce Robertson produced by Christ to the World Ministries through FEBA India. Thanks to all the FEBA staff especially Rev. C.A. Benjamin, Director, Mr. KennethEdward and Mr. Sunil, who hosted us and extended their help. Thanks be to God.Joseph Peter, Koraput.

Our Prayers don't go in vain
