Could all parents picking up students in the afternoon please collect them from the canteen where they line up. Student banking day will be Wednesday's. Commonwealth Bank books can be left at the office & NAB banking will be conducted face to face from 8.30am. Attached to the newsletter is a BPS/BHS pamphlet that states what both school’s provide for the community. Thank you to Miss Wilson for organising ‘Ride to School day’ last week. It was great to see so many bikes! A bottle of repellent has been sent home with each family today with the newsletter. Kindergarten Mr Driscoll, Miss Newton Kindergarten had a very busy week last week. We continued learning our Jolly Phonics sounds – l, b and f and continued to make more simple 3 letter words. We also looked at basic sentences and found our tricky words in these. In Child Protection we looked at trust and children identified people at home and school that Miss O’Callaghan – AP Literacy We have had an exciting week in MULTILIT as even more students move up levels! Well done. The stars of the week this week are Corey Ryan and Shakia Johnson! On Monday students in Year 3, 4 and 5 will sit 1B – Miss Budd Last week 1B continued to look at shelter. We looked at different houses people lived in around the world and drew pictures of these. We also completed country farm artworks which look great. Some of these will be going into the Bourke Show so 1O – Miss Oxley Last week 1O had a great lesson led by Mrs O’Sullivan. We learnt all about how we hear and things that can effect our hearing. There was a puppet show as well as interactive activities. In literacy 1O practiced our talking and listening skills, we were given a topic and had to talk on the topic for two

Please ensure all students wear repellent to school everyday as the mosquito’s are very active.

Kindergarten – Mr Driscoll, Miss Newton Kindergarten had a very busy week last week. We continued learning our Jolly Phonics sounds – l, b and f and continued to make more simple 3 letter words. We played lots of trust games that highlighted this concept for the children. We would like to wish everyone a wonderful week

Miss O’Callaghan – AP LiteracyWe have had an exciting week in MULTILIT as even more students move up levels! Well done. The stars of the week this week are Corey Ryan and Shakia Johnson!

On Monday students in Year 3, 4 and 5 will sit a short literacy test to assess their growth in reading over the last year. The results will assist us in programming to suit the needs of our students.

1B – Miss Budd Last week 1B continued to look at shelter. We looked at different houses people lived in around the world and drew pictures of these. We also completed country farm artworks which look great. Some of these will be going into the Bourke Show so keep an eye out for them. We did a great job colouring in Easter pictures for the Newsagency. Make sure you have a look at the fantastic work.

1O – Miss Oxley Last week 1O had a great lesson led by Mrs O’Sullivan. We learnt all about how we hear and things that can effect our hearing. 2B – Miss BartleyLast week we finished our collages of ‘The endeavour’. We really enjoyed learning about Captain Cook’s ship and had fun making our own model. We also wanted to say thank you to all the parents who came to our assembly performance last week, we hope you all enjoyed our presentation. Cheers Miss B

2D – Miss DorringtonLast week we were learning about using water colours, we investigated Joseph Banks and his art work. In maths we have been learning about division and its many names. We have begun Tiddalick the frog and talking about narratives. Cheers Miss D

2S – Mr SouthwellLast week 2S had their parent interviews to discuss each student’s progress, thankyou to each parent who attended. We have looked at the Aboriginal resistance leader Pummulwuy. Next week we will look at the Aboriginal Dreamtime Story of Tiddalick. In maths we had an outrageous time looking at column graphs. Cheers Mr Southwell.

3T – Miss ThomsonWe had fun last week looking at a narrative text in reading to learn and wrote a fantastic rewrite of it. In maths we have been looking at problem solving. Congratulations to Lexi who was our star of the week and Adam, Patrick and Briannah for receiving subject awards. This Monday and Tuesday I look forward to meeting parents at our PLP interviews. 3W – Miss WilsonLast Week 3W learnt how to produce a word processing document and send this as an attachment on an E-Mail. We continued looking at angles in maths and learnt how to find a fraction of a collection.Have a great week!

3B – Mrs ButlerLast week we wrote some poetry about opposites and finished our Eureka Stockade writing. In Maths, we consolidated our understanding of subtraction and learnt about 24 hour time. We have also been looking at how the Chinese people lived on the goldfields during the Gold Rush.

Aboriginal Education with Miss Collins

Last week students took a journey across Australia up into Arnhem Land with Cathy Freeman and Deborah Mailman in Going Bush! The series looked at the different ways Aboriginal people live and their connection, respect and understanding in some of the most remote parts of Australia!

Library with Miss DeaconLast week during Library lessons all classes looked at books such as ‘I’m Not Your Friend’, ‘I’m Sorry’ and ‘The Peace Book’. These books cover the topic of Harmony. We also looked at conflict resolution with interactive activities on the Smartboard and decorated Peace Doves. Enjoy your week!
