Terri Burrows, RPh, PharmD

Terri Burrows is a 1987 graduate of the University of Oklahoma, College of Pharmacy (B.S.) and a

1991 graduate of the University of Texas, College of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.). After graduation, Terri

worked in several areas of pharmacy practice including hospital, community, and academia before

becoming interested in regulatory practice.

Terri has been an employee of the Texas State Board of Pharmacy since April 2014 serving as a

Compliance Officer in the Dallas area. In her position as a Compliance Officer, Terri performs

inspections of all classes of licensed pharmacies, explains compliance-related deficiencies to

pharmacists, advises pharmacy personnel on methods of correction, and provides education on

pharmacy laws and rules. She is a member of the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

MONITORING PROGRAM

S.B. 195 by Sen. Schwertner

Passed during the 2015 Legislative Session;

Moved the Prescription Monitoring Program

from the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to

the Board of Pharmacy; and

Eliminated the Texas Controlled Substance

Registration program.

November 2015 – RFP for the new

PMP issued by TSBP.

January 2016 – Appriss selected as

the vendor.

TSBP.

February 2016 – Board adopted new Chapter 315

to implement PMP and provisions related to

prescriptions in the Controlled Substances Act.

– The rules became effective on 9/1/2016.

May – August 2016 –Testing program.

September 1, 2016 – NEW PMP is live.
