Branding, Layout and Illustration Services
Background
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and Save the Children International (SCI) have agreed to partner with the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation (MoNREC) to establish Environmental Action Clubs in primary and middle schools. Clubs will meet each week to learn about the environment and implement projects to improve their school and community environment.
Tasks and responsibilities
WWF is looking for a designer or design agency to:
Create a logo and brand guidelines for the eco-clubs
Design and layout 3 x booklets types
Create illustrations to be used in the booklets
Provide mock layout for approval and incorporate required amendments Produce signed off materials - liaising with translators and managing the printing process
Details
Branding: The name of the club will be decided during the pre-test. Once agreed a logo and brand guidelines will be created.
Design and layout: The following booklet need to be designed and laid out (English and Myanmar text will be supplied on a word document)
Club Overview for Facilitators booklet - approx. 12 A4 side English (digital) and 16 sides Myanmar –digital and print
Design and layout & illustration: The following booklets need to be designed, laid out and illustrated (English and Myanmar text will be supplied on a word document)
Facilitator’s guides - A4 10 sides English (digital) 12 sides Myanmar (digital and print) (6 guides – 1 layout template, illustrations will vary)
Students flip book - A3 laminated 8 sides English (digital) & Myanmar (digital and print) (6 flip books– 1 layout template, illustrations will vary)
Illustrations to include icons, small graphics, photos and 16 full page posters

Qualification and Expertise
The successful entity is required to meet the following criteria:
Strong background in graphic design, including the use of design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, etc
Strong background in illustration = with demonstrable style examples
Proven experience of graphic production from start to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) and colour management
Demonstrating an understanding /experience of producing communication material for
schools/on the education arena
Good understanding of new and evolving technologies
Application process
This application is open for individuals, groups and design firms.

Examples
Illustrated posters
This is an example poster from another project shows the village activities related to water
pollution and its effects. A similar poster for Myanmar context would need to be created
detailing the local pollutants e.g. heavy metals used in mining and the local affects e.g. dead
Irrawaddy dolphin.
We require visual depictions of activities e.g.
Activity 1 Water consumption and waste detective at the school
Target: grade 3-5
Type: out-of-classroom, in school
Skills: group work-collaboration, presentation, critical thinking
Estimated time: 1 hour (30 minutes for the observation around the school, 15 minutes preparation, 15 minutes presentation)
Instructions: Ask your students to split in groups and to go around the school and collect data on how water is used at school using the table below. Once they have collected the data, ask each group to present them in the form they want (oral presentation, poster, etc.). Prompt the students with questions like: ‘why do you think this is a problem? What are the consequences of this problem? Who is responsible? What will happen if….?)

Activity2: Be water smart!
Target: grade 3-5
Type: art
Skills: brainstorming, art, problem solving, collaboration
Estimated time: 1 hour (30 minutes for the discussion, 30 minutes preparation)
Instructions:
Based on the finding of Activity 1, have a class discussion on how they use water in the school, and ways in which they could conserve water where is wasted. The students will be split in groups of 4 to design A4 sized signs that could be placed around the school to encourage people not to waste water. Encourage the students to find out a solution to propose in their groups and to design it. The best signs/posters can be placed in areas of the school where water in used. The students will select the ones they think are more effective.
Activity 3: Survey on water consumption by the community
Target: grade 6-7
Type: survey (out-of-classroom/home) and class discussion
Skills: numeracy, brainstorming, creativity, problem solving
Estimated time: 1 hour (30 for two interviews, 30 minutes for the discussion, 30 minutes preparation)
Instructions:
Ask your students to conduct a survey on how much and how the water is used in the village. Students will collect data on the way the people in the village. Each student can interview tow households (their own, and another one) and try to collect data on how the water is used and an estimation of how much water is used. Once they come back to the classroom, allow the students to discuss about their findings. Then form groups: each group will look at the consumption of water for each identified activity. Each group will present their findings.
