PRINCIPALS MESSAGE

Respect staRts with youRself

Respect is defined in the dictionary as: due regard for the feelings, wishes, or rights of others.

My personal aim at school is to always treat students, staff and parents with respect when dealing with them.

I rarely raise my voice or get very cranky at students.

I also expect this of the staff at Gulgong Public School.

We try our very best to treat everyone with Respect.

We may not always get this perfect but we try.

Recently at school we have had an outbreak of students not treating each other and teachers in this manner.

This involves following instructions and not talking back to a teacher when they ask you to do something.

For students, this looks like, keeping hands and feet to themselves and speaking nicely and kindly to one

another.

There is an old saying "that my mother used to tell me.

if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all".

This is a great rule to live by.

Here at Gulgong we don't put up with people not showing Respect or hurting other students.

If your son or daughter is involved in hitting, kicking, punching or abusing another student or staff member

verbally or physically you should expect a call from the school and consequences to follow.

If they did this outside school then often the authorities would get involved and students need to learn there are

consequences for their actions.

On the other side if your son or daughter is the victim of this then you can also expect to hear from us.

This will be to let you know what happened, that your child is ok and that there were consequences for the other

students involved.

There are going to be people in our lives that we don't gel or mesh well with.

Part of our job as parents and teachers is to show our children how to deal with different people whilst still showing them the Respect that they deserve as a

person.

Imagine how nice the world would be if we all treated each other the way we wished to be treated.

We may not be able to do this across the world (yet) but we can try to start with Gulgong Public School.

2020 Captain and Prefect Speeches.

With 2020 fast approaching , it is time to look to the new student leaders for our school. Student leaders play a very important role in a school.

These leaders lead by example in class, in the playground and provide stability in our organisation of many school events that students engage in.

Nominations have been made and the Captain & Prefect speeches will be held on the Monday 25th November (Week 7) at 10am in the School Hall.

The successful group of students will be announced on our Presentation Day which is being held on Tuesday 10th December 2019.

All parents, carers and family are invited to attend.
