PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Bunnings BBQ –helpers needed

On Saturday 3rd August our P&C will be holding a

fundraising BBQ at Bunnings to raise funds

specifically for the 1/2 class. They wish to

purchase new tablet devices for students to

digitally record work and share with parents.

Parents of 1/2 students are encouraged to

volunteer 1 or 2 hrs of time as the proceeds will

go directly to helping the students in this class.

All helpers are still welcome though.

You can volunteer by contacting P&C president

Joanne Tracey directly or return a volunteer

sheet to the school office.

If you can not help you can still support our P&C

by buying lunch for the family on the day.

Only $4 for a sausage sandwich and a can of

drink. What a bargain!

ACOS Dance Performance

A large group of our students have been

practising for the big Evening with ACOS

Performance coming up on August 7th. This is a

combined performance from all the schools in

the Armidale area.

Parents can purchase tickets to see their

children perform in the matinee or evening

show through Trybooking.com. Tickets are only

for sale online.

Mid-Year Interviews / PLP Meeting

If you have not yet made time to speak with

your child’s teacher/s about their progress this

year, it is not too late. Please contact teachers

and make time to check up on how your child is

progressing.

The equation is simple; the more interest you

show, the more positive you are about school

and learning, the greater the achievements and

outcomes for your child.

Touch Football Gala Day

Good luck to our boys and girls teams who will

compete in the PSSA Knockout Gala day this

week. Our teachers have again put in an extra

effort to not only organise our school teams but

also coordinate the whole day. Newling

teachers once again going above and beyond!

Debating

Our school debating team will compete in the

second round of the Premier’s Debating

Challenge this week and hone their public

speaking skills. Our team of students have been

showing some great persuasive skills in class

activities and will take this extra experience into

the debate.

Zone Athletics

We wish the 17 athletes who qualified to

compete at the Zone Athletics Carnival this

Friday all the best for a wonderful performance.

Competitors will be representing our school as

well as contesting for a place at the regional

athletics team. Best of luck to our athletes!

P and C Father’s Day Raffle

Our P and C are coordinating a Father’s Day

Raffle to be drawn at the Father’s Day Breakfast

on 30th August. A range of prizes will be

available, from a brush cutter to a Bunnings Gift

voucher.

Please support our wonderful P&C and our

students by buying and/or selling tickets. Raffle

tickets will be sent home with the Newsletter at

a later date.

Star Awards

“You’re a Star Award” certificates were

presented at this morning’s assembly to

successful students who have been using the

You Can Do It keys to success and

demonstrating persistence, resilience,

organisation, getting along and confidence.

Congratulations to our recipients: Kiesha, Blake

and Torrah.

News From 3/4

1/2 News

News from 5/6

Year 5/6 have some very busy times ahead,

with lots of notes going home and needing

to be returned!

Kindergarten News

Kindergarten created spinning tops in their weekly

STEM Challenge on Friday. Students used clever

colour patterns and tested to see if their creation

could spin for 10 seconds. Well done to all

Kindergarten students for showing persistence

throughout the activity.

We are studying the amazing Roald Dahl novel

‘The Twits’. This is such a descriptive book that

really creates an image in the reader’s mind. We

have been working on using powerful adjectives

to write our own character descriptions of Mr

and Mrs Twit.

This Term Year 1/2 are working on their

persuasive writing.

Here is Lincoln’s writing about whether pets

should be allowed at school?

Should Pets be Allowed at School?

I think pets should be allowed at school.

Firstly pets can listen to you read.

If you have a dog it can protect you.

This is why pets should be allowed at school.

Just a reminder that this Saturday

3rd August is the Year 1/2 BBQ at

Bunnings.
