From the Principal’s Desk Kindergarten Enrolment - 2022 Do you have a child who is starting school in 2022? Do you know someone in our community who has a child ready to start school in 2022? Quirindi Public School is now enrolling Kindergarten students for next year and have information packs ready for collection. If parents/carers would like to have a tour of the school, you are more than welcome to contact the school to make a time to have a look around and see the amazing things our school has to offer. We have already advertised our transition dates for later in the year and some of these are only available to students who are enrolled for 2022. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact the school and we will be more than happy to support. Horse Sports - Success What an amazing day we had at our annual P&C Horse Sports event last Friday. Over 160 riders from all over the state attended and participated in a fun-filled day. This event would not be possible without a hard-working group of parent volunteers. I would personally like to acknowledge the work of our Horse Sports Committee who worked tirelessly in the lead up to the event and on the day to ensure everything ran smoothly. A huge thank you to all of our volunteers who also gave up their time to provide many students with the opportunity to be involved. It will now be wonderful to see the P&C work with the school to see how the funds raised can best support our students.

Quirindi High School Work Experience This week we have had the pleasure of hosting three Quirindi High School Year 10 students as part of their Work Experience program. We hope that Nakia, Aaron and Paige have all enjoyed their time at Quirindi Public School and the experience of being in the classroom working to shape the minds of the next generation. We would like to wish the QHS students the very best with the rest of their high school years and hope they can pursue their career goals in the future. Mr John Ireland – Principal

State Hockey Last week I went to the PSSA State Hockey Championships in Wollongong. It was really fun because it was very warm and we got to go to the beach each afternoon. On the first day we played three games. On day two we played two games and on the last day we played one which decided our placing in the competition. We came 11th tied with Sydney East. I made lots of great friends and learnt a lot from my coach. It was such a great opportunity to learn from and play with other people who share a love of hockey with me. Charlotte Williams

Debating In Week 4 we had our first debate. Our school had to debate against each other and we had the topic "All primary schools should have a dog or cat as a class pet". Quirindi Gold team was Oliver Pollard, Patrick Stewart, Charli Hoswell and Amber Drew and they were the affirmative team. Quirindi Maroons team was Logan Oliver, Isaac Uptin, Jet Owen and Seth Gumowski, they were the negative team. The wonderful adjudicator was Mrs Christmas. The negative team won the debate and everyone had lots of fun! Our next debates will be against Spring Ridge Public School and Henty Public School in week 7 and week 8. By Logan, Isaac and Jet.

Parent advice of requirement for COVID-19 test for your child Please remember students and staff with flu-like symptoms will need to be tested and return a negative COVID-19 test result and be symptom-free before being permitted to return to school. Students who do not undertake a COVID-19 test will not be permitted to return to school for a 10-day period. Additionally, they must be symptom-free for at least 3 days prior to returning to school. Students who have seasonal allergic rhinitis or another condition that presents similarly to flu-like symptoms are still required to get tested for COVID-19 and return a negative test result. Where their symptoms continue beyond 10 days, students should provide documentation from their GP confirming their symptoms are typical for their condition. If the student develops new or changed symptoms, they should get tested for COVID-19. Find more information about COVID-19 symptomsExternal link. No hat no play As parents are aware, the school has a Sun-Safe Hat Policy which was approved by the school community. School hats must be worn during any outside activities. Those parents who cannot provide their children with a school hat are asked to contact the Principal. Hats are available to purchase from the school canteen. Sick Bay - We have had a number of children at sick bay with the vomitting and diarrhoea bug! Please ensure you keep your child and any siblings at home for at least 24 hours and discuss personal hygiene particularly washing hands with them. This is a highly contagious virus and your assistance would be very much appreciated.
