Dear Families, Welcome back to Term Two. We hope you have had a very happy, holy and restful Easter break. We have a very busy term ahead, filled with lots of scientific exploration and discovery. Our overarching theme for term 2 is ‘How to Flourish’. We will be looking at how plants grow and what they need to flourish. We will compare this to ourselves and investigate what we need to live a flourishing life. We will be using the Parable of the Sower as a basis for this unit. We look forward to having Parent Helpers in the classroom this term. Thank you to those who have already volunteered. Dear Families,

Welcome back to Term Two.

LiteracyThis term we will be continuing with CAFÉ Reading routines in the classroom. Most students will be reading chapter books now and these can be used as home readers. Please write a comment on how they are reading in relation to the CAFE strategies: Comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency and Expanding Vocabulary.

For writing we will continue to focus on the Vocabulary, Connectives, Openers and Punctuation (VCOP) strategies. We take some time to write on our own to practise these strategies in our Big Write sessions each Friday.

In Mathematics we will be exploring time and different ways we measure it.

We will also be looking at using arrays to solve multiplication problems, division facts and strategies, graphing data, exploring 2D shapes and 3D objects and understanding how to measure volume and capacity.
