Dear parents/carers,

Media presentation. This year’s presentation, Jigsaw, will focus on showing students the benefit
of planning and good decision making so that they can more easily achieve their goals and navi-
gate their way through their lives.

DUKE OF EDINBURGH Ever wanted to challenge yourself and change your world?
If you are 14 – 25 and interested in doing something that takes you beyond the everyday, then The Duke of Ed is for you!
THE DUKE OF ED AWARD: WHAT IS IT?
The Award is a flexible, interesting and fun-packed program for all young people between the ages of 14 and 25 to participate in a number of activities over a set length of time. It is entirely voluntary and is structured so the Participants can design their own unique program centred around their interests and passions. The Award is available to all young people aged between 14 and 25. There are
three levels to The Duke of Ed: Bronze/Silver/Gold It's not easy, but it is worth the effort. Oh, and the great thing about The Award is that it allows you to piggy-back onto activities you're already doing, such as surf lifesaving, playing sport, playing in a band... Or, you can start something you’ve always dreamed of doing
but haven’t had the reason to begin.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME? A great time
Life changing experiences Fun with your mates and new ones
Travel and adventure Connecting with people all over the world
Making a difference
DIFFERENT LEVELS: WHAT ARE THEY? Bronze Silver Gold
FOUR SECTIONS: WHAT ARE THEY?
There are 4 mandatory sections to The Award which you get to make your own personalised program around. For each Section, Participants get to choose and undertake an activity that fits in with the purpose of that Section, for the mini-
mum amount of time specified for their chosen level.
If your are interested or would like further informa on please see Mr Stockwell (Award
Coordinator for Kandos High School) for further details.

ANZAC DAY
As you know this year marks the 100th anniversary of Australia’s involve-ment in World War 1 and the landing of the ANZAC at Gallipoli. This means that for many ANZAC Day this year is particularly meaningful. As part of the school’s commitment to commemorate we would like to invite the students and community to recognise the contributions of members of the school com-munity to the service of our country. Students are invited to enter this year’s assembly holding a photograph or portrait of a loved one who has served.
If you would like your son of daughter to be part of this recognition, please contact Helen Fuller or Rod San Martin at KHS on 63 794 103 for more de-tails.
