Erbaluce)–)The)Fruit)of)Gods)!

The$legend$In$ancient$times,$Gods$and$Nymphs$of$Mother$Nature$used$to$live$within$these$Morainic$Hills,$which$at$that$time$surrounded$a$lake.$Albaluce,$born$from$the$unthinkable$love$between$the$Goddess$Alba$and$the$Sun,$was$very$popular$among$the$community$of$shepherds,$farmers$and$fishermen$who$donate$her$gift$from$their$labor$on$the$land$and$lake.$One$day$Queen$Yppa$and$her$tribe$invaded$this$land$ruining$the$joyful$atmosphere$that$used$to$reign$over$the$area.$Due$to$a$need$of$land$for$cultivation,$Yppa$modified$the$lake$water$flow,$which$caused$flooding$and$devastation$in$the$area.$In$viewing$the$desecrated$landscape,$the$heart$broken$Albaluce,$started$crying;$her$tears$became$e$nourishment$for$the$land,$which$gave$new$life$to$stronger$grapevine$with$juicy$golden$grape:$Erbaluce.$

The!Erbaluce)grape,!a!local!and!unique!grape,!is!steeped!in!the!history!of!Piedmont!

region!in!Italy,!with!the!first!written!records!dating!back!to!1606.!

The!D.O.C.!was!established!forty!years!ago,!and!in!all!this!time!the!Erbaluce!grape!

has!maintained!itself!as!a!powerful!representative,!because!of!the!culture,!its!

history,!traditions!and!socioeconomic!events!in!the!area.!

The!greatness!of!the!Erbaluce!grapevine!is!given!by!the!fact!that!it!is!able!to!offer!its!

precious!fruits!only!in!its!specific!territory,!the!“Canavese”,!and!nowhere!else.!In!

fact,!the!morainic!origins!of!the!area,!has!given!the!soil!high!acidity,!little!limestone!

but!plenty!of!phosphorous!and!potassium,!all!chemical!elements!that!are!easily!

recognisable!in!musts!and!wines.!!

Erbaluce)di)Caluso)D.O.C.G.!!

Wines!made!with!Erbaluce!grape!tend!to!be!dry!with!noticeable!acidity.!While!the!

grape's!acidity!makes!it!ideally!suitable!for!sweet/raisin!wine!production!(named!

“Passito”),!the!dry!wines!need!to!have!considerable!amount!of!fruit!in!order!to!

balance!that!acidity.!

Erbaluce!grape!is!also!perfect!for!the!production!of!sparkling!wine,!and!it!gets!the!best!result!with!“Metodo)Classico”!vinification.!!

Its!color!is!bright!yellow!with!greenish!highlights!that!turn!into!gold!overtime.!!

The!Bouquet!is!intense!with!floral!sensations!and!citrus!in!the!classic!version!of!the!

wine;!the!reserve!is!extremely!fine!to!the!nose!with!notes!of!peach!and!pear.!

Elements!referable!to!hydrocarbon!and!aromatic!herbs,!typical!of!the!Erbaluce!

grapevine!can!be!found!after!the!first!year!of!aging.!

The!full!and!round!body!softens!the!intense,!long!lasting!and!refreshing!acidity.!It!is!

only!with!aging!that!the!flavors!enhance!and!become!more!persistent.!

Due!to!their!characteristics,!all!ErbaluceObased!wines!are!well!paired!with!fish,!

vegetable!and!white!meat!dishes.!Passito!perfect!pairing!is!strong!cheese,!like!the!

famous!Italian!“gorgonzola”.!

Tenuta)Roletto)Hospitality) Within!the!winery!is!available!a!B&B,!that!has!been!designed!by!keeping!the!rustic!style!of!the!other!buildings!of!the!estate,!in!the!oldest!part!of!the!building,!where!at!

the!end!of!'800!was!located!the!cellar.!
