When the exciting, healthy and sustainablebuilding is ready for occupation by the fall of 2012, it is expected to houseapproximately 600 students, including about 100 youngsters who receive levels 1-4special education services. Eagle Academy also operates a second, smaller campuson New Jersey Avenue in South East Washington.

    EXECUTIVE DIRECTORIntegrated Design Electronics Academy (IDEA) Public Charter School

    POSITION

    This is a career-building opportunity for a results-oriented change agent with proven experiencein improving student outcomes. In partnership with the Board of Trustees, this leader willoversee the comprehensive restructuring of Integrated Design Electronics Academy PublicCharter School (IDEA-PCS) in Northeast Washington, D.C. This 14-year old school serves 362students in grades 7 through 12.

    IDEA-PCSs mission is to develop young people with the academic, social, leadership andoccupational skills to compete successfully in post-secondary education/training and to enterchallenging careers. The school integrates academics, technological career training and

    leadership skills of the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC). The schools foundersenvisioned a school that would ensure that all students could be successful in his/her post-secondary pursuits, regardless of interests and academic background. Post-secondary successforms the core of this belief.

    One of the first charter schools in the District of Columbia, IDEA-PCS has deep and loyalcommunity roots. The school operates in a fully renovated 70,000 square foot facility and iscurrently building a 27,000 square foot state-of-the art gym, health and wellness center. IDEAsstudent population is 100% African-American, 87% low-income and 13% special education.

    The Executive Director will be responsible for finalizing and implementing a top to bottom

    school restructuring plan that has been initiated by the Board of Trustees and a team ofrestructuring experts during the 2011-12 school year. This is a position for a skilled leader andexperienced educator who is attracted to and qualified for the opportunity of changing thetrajectory of a school and ensuring a high-quality education for D.C.s deserving youth.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Executive Director reports to the Board of Trustees and is responsible for the entireoperation, and success, of the school. The Executive Director will directly manage a leadershipteam comprised of academic, operations, human resources and fundraising administrators, buts/he is ultimately responsible for the entire staff. Specific responsibilities include, but are not

    limited to:

    1. Leadership and School Culture . The Executive Director is the chief executive and head ofthe school. The Executive Director holds responsibility, accountability, and authority for theschools overall performance and success in achieving key targets and goals. The position is alsoresponsible for ensuring the schools long-term sustainability. The Executive Director mustdemonstrate a deep understanding of issues affecting education; formulate strategic plans andgoals; set priorities in the context of community, student and staff needs; and ensure an overall
