'Eiectri~' Band Rocks Concert

The lantern-jawed youth with the long, fluffy hair quietly stepped to the microphone and said "This is a soug c a II e d 'I'm Goin' Home.'"
You might 'have thought he had said that "Lake Erie is suddenly pure! "
E x c i t e m e n t rippled through the standing-roomonly crowd like a grassfire. Soon the audience was on its feet , standing on chairs , clapping and singing to the beat. ·
Speaking was Alvin Lee, 25, guitarist and vocalist for the E n g 1 i s h progressive rock -group, "Ten Years After.' ' He was singing and s w i n g i n g the song that brought him fame in the movie documentary "Woodstock."
Dark-haired o r g a n i s t Chick Churchill pounded on the wooden top of the organ, then got up on the stool and directed the audience like a symphony condu,ctor.
Bass guitarist Leo Lyons shook like a madman in the last stages of fright and RicLee drummed a tempest.
This was the Allen Theater, 1407 Euclid Avenue, last Saturday night, where the 49-year-old stage shook to the sounds of the rock concert.
"They played like they didn't have 10 good days left," said a bell-bottomed
youth on the way out. "Fine audience. But it's
the s m a 11 e s t we've ever played," said Alvin Lee after the , encore, wiping his sweaty face on his jersey shirt sleeve. What does he play when he wants to relax? "I like Bach," he said.
The quartet played Goose Lake Park near Jackson, Mich., Friday and were on their way to the Strawberry Fields festival in Mosport Park, Ontario, Sunday.
Cleveland's own b a n d, Charade, may be one of the first warm-up groups to get a standing ovation. Twohundred pounder Tony Bodanza got big applause for his accoustic guitar playing of "U.S. of Onyx."
