IMPLEMENTATION STAGES

• Project team was set up by the Rector’s order for the successful achievement of the DOQUP results

• Communication on a regular basis was maintained with project teams in ENU, KazGASA, KAUIR by way of meetings, via e-mail messages and phone calls for solving the daily issues of the project

• Contacts with the Ministry of Education and Science, former NAC and IQAA were also set up and maintained

IMPLEMENTATION STAGES

• After the definition of quality requirements coherent with the ESG and identification of information and data for the QA of the SPs in KazNTU, methodologies and procedures of definition, gathering , documentation and presentation of the identified information and data were studied.

• The identified methodologies and procedures constituted the basis for the definition of the university facilities and resources (human and infrastructural) needed to manage the identified information and data according to the identified procedures.(Table of responsibilities)

• The DOQUP Model and the DOQUP Model questionnaire was distributed among about 200 BSc and MSc students majoring in Oil and Gas, Mining, Geology and Exploration of Mineral Deposits, Finance, IS, Computing and Software who on the whole marked the option “More useful than useless” especially for standards A,B and D.

DOQUP approach andKazNTU management of SP

According to DOQUP approach, quality assurance (QA) of study programmes (SPs) requires:• the adoption of a management system for quality;• the management of a documentation process (or a documentation of the

activities and results of the study programmes).

In KazNTU, Department for Academic Affairs, Registrar Office, Profile Institutes, Human Resources Department, Department for Internal Audit and International Relations Department are in charge of the process of study programs quality management system as well as documentation, implementation and results of SP.

Types and forms of study progammes documentation adopted in KazNTU:

The following forms of study programme documentation (curriculums) are developed towards the credit system requirements:• 1. Model Curriculae (MC) contain the list of Mandatory

component courses and their brief description in the appendix, and the elective component (EC);

• 2. Students’ Individual Plans identify the learning path of a student;

• 3. Syllabi identify the teacher’s workload.

In addition to the model curriculum there is Elective Courses Catalogue specifying pre- and postrequisites; a brief description of each course (Course Description).

• Regulations on the study process organization in line with the credit system (general provisions, organization of studies for Baccalaureate-Master-PhD students, students internship, the course competence and social aspects of the study process);

• Student’s information package (rights and duties, curriculum, tips for GPA calculation, and requirements for the current and final assessment – Students Reference);

• Educational-methodology complex of the speciality;• Educational-methodology complex of the discipline (separate

for teacher and student).

Study Programmes correspondence to the DOQUP Model approach

1. Their design and implementation of an educational process is adequate to accomplish the learning outcomes, takes under control its development and assures a correct assessment of students’ learning;

2. The teaching staff, facilities, financial resources, student support services and partnerships with businesses, research institutions and other HEIs are adequate to accomplish the programme outcomes and are taken under control;

3. They monitor the results of the educational process;

4. An adequate and effective management system able to promote SP quality and guarantees the publicity of the information on the SP.

DOQUP Model in KazNTU:

1. Collection of the documentation and information on the chosen SPs

2. Review and bringing in line with the five Standards for QA of SPs

A - Needs and Objectives; B - Educational Process; C - Resources;

D - Monitoring; E - Management System.

3. Placement of the revised SPs info on the doqup-kion portal

Quality Management System files on the uni website are only in Russian

doqup-kion problems:

Administrators can update the information at any convenient time, however, due to some technical failure the introduced data is not accepted by the system (e.g.BSc in Ol&Gas) although the sequence of work is the same.

Dissemination and sustainability • Monitoring, survey meetings and intermediate workshop conducted

following the project WP with involvement of KazNTU and outside universities staff

• Project page in the University website• Papers in the Proceedings of the CollNanoInd Conference and KazNTU

journal “My PolyTech”• Guidelines for KazNTU SPs revision and bringing in line with the “DOQUP

Model” to be used by the teaching staff in KazNTU and other universities • Further dissemination meetings will be conducted for:1) the newly joined 7 research institutes of Kazakh National Research University

2) Universities in the South (Almaty, Shymkent) and North (Kokshetau) Kazakhstan to present the project objectives, activities and obtained results.

The project outcomes were achievable due to the following assets:

• Developed and approved on a national level State Standards to the Study Programmes conforming to the requirements of the Bologna

• Developed structures/departments of the university assigned to introduce and carry out the QA system

• Developed IT facilities and equipment allowing to interchange the necessary information among the structural units and universities. .

DOQUP outcomes

• Enable modernisation of a number of KazNTU SPs and their recognition in the international level

• The project wider objectives coincide with the modernization of higher education in Kazakhstan.

• The software for documenting the SPs will help KazNTU to collect data for both national and international accreditation as well as for MES RK.

• Increase access, transparency, trust and quality of study programmes

• Improve safety and storage of SPs thanks to the cloud technology
