We’re looking for volunteers to help in the Local History Room!
If you have an interest in Albion’s history and would like to contribute to its preservation we would love to hear from you. Duties range
from researching family history requests to assisting with the
processing and organization of LHR materials, and no previous experience is necessary.

January 15 – Death on the Railroad In 1832, 57 young men from Ireland arrived in America healthy and ready to work. Eight weeks later all 57 men were dead. Did they all die due to a cholera pandemic, or were some of them murdered?
January 22 – Saving Otter 501 Nature follows the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s 501st attempt to save an orphan otter as she learns how to dive, hunt, eat, and fend for herself in the wild, where survival is a long shot, at best.
January 29 – Rebel: Loretta Velasquez, Secret Soldier of the American Civil War In 1861, a teenager from New Orleans headed to the front lines of the Civil War. He fought at First Bull Run, was wounded at Shiloh, and served as a Confederate spy. But this soldier harbored a secret- “he” was really Loretta Velazquez, a Cuban immigrant from New Orleans.
