3PITCH. NETWORK. LEARN. BE INSPIRED TEDCO’S 2019 ENTREPRENEUR EXPO
Dear Expo Attendees:
It is our pleasure to welcome you to TEDCO’s 9th annual Entrepreneur Expo! As the only conference of its kind in our region, we have gathered the top entrepreneurs, small business executives, angel and venture capital investors, federal and state economic development officials, university leaders, and legislators in one place, at one time, to celebrate entrepreneurship, and to help bring recognition to the importance of entrepreneurial activities in this region.
It has been the unique component of the Entrepreneur Expo to have entrepreneurs inspiring entrepreneurs with their knowledge and success stories throughout the day. This handing down of knowledge from experienced entrepreneurs to those starting their first venture helps to build the entrepreneurial culture that fosters and sustains entrepreneurial activity in our region. The 2019 Entrepreneur Expo features over 90 entrepreneurs, investors, and business leaders serving on panels and leading discussions on a variety of important topics. The full-day agenda is designed with entrepreneurs at all different stages in mind. Providing practical advice that would be useful for starting or working in seed/early-stage companies building their networks by meeting the other 900 Expo attendees who have a role in the innovation ecosystem, and listening to more pitches of ideas, technologies, and new ventures, this year’s event was designed to deliver all of this and much, much more.
We’re also featuring a new opportunity for our Maryland entrepreneurs and resources – the Entrepreneur Hub in the Exhibit Hall. Here you’ll find a networking lounge, entrepreneur speed dating session, and an entrepreneurial resources spotlight stage with mini sessions highlighting different opportunities available to you.
And to top it all off, we are fortunate to have keynote addresses from Justin Klein, Founder and Managing Director of Vensana Capital, Bob Ackerman, Founder and Managing Partner of AllegisCyber Capital, and Marco Chacón, Founder of Paragon Bioservices.
Finally, the exhibition hall features over eighty exhibitors representing companies, resources, service providers, and others that support entrepreneurs in the region. With all of these sessions and networking opportunities, we are confident that you will find enormous value in attending this year’s Entrepreneur Expo.
We would like to thank all of the sponsors of the Expo, especially AARP Innovation Labs and UM Ventures for their generous support. We would also like to thank our staff at TEDCO for developing today’s program, and all of the speakers, panelists and mentors who have agreed to share their stories and experience. Finally, we would like to thank you for attending TEDCO’s Entrepreneur Expo and helping to recognize and celebrate the efforts of the entrepreneurs that are helping to make this region one of the best places in the country to start and grow a business.
Enjoy your day!
Sincerely,
Stephen AuvilExecutive Vice President Operations and ProgramsTEDCO

More and more large corporations are partnering with startups to enhance their overall innovation and conquer new markets. But what would a successful collaboration between an established company and a startup really look like? How can they work together to conquer new markets and drive innovation? And last but not least: how can startups then profit from such an alliance?
Find out about AARP Innovation Labs, why design thinking matters at AARP, and how AARP can bring design thinking to startup engagements.

The legal framework is just as critical as the product itself when building a business. Working with the right attorney from the get-go helps you de-risk and set your startup for scalable growth and success.
At each critical milestone in growing a business - from forming your company, to raising capital, to hiring your first employees - it is important to work with an attorney who understands the specific needs of startup and emerging growth companies. Our panel of attorneys and startup founders will discuss what to look for in an attorney and how to nurture that relationship to achieve meaningful goals.
