With just 3 years of presence in the country, Amazon.in today is the largest online store in India with over 80 mil-lion products and over 1.4 million products available for next day delivery; an extensive reach & penetration to the far flung areas of the country and enabled thousands of SMEs to get their businesses online. Recently, Amazon.in hosted the Great Indian Festival – ‘Tyohaar bade dilwala’ from 1st to 5th October with a marathon of 120 hours of great deals offered by thousands of sellers and brands on popular products.Amazon.in took the bold objective of scaling up to an extent never before seen in India to provide customers the best-ever shopping experience with the widest selection, continued promise of fast and reliable delivery at that scale and the widest India pene-tration and it was shocking to see Amazon.in received a billion hits in the first 12 hours, Received more unique visitors in half a day than it received last year, 1 out of every 3 shipments was a Prime Shipment.

The biggest thing to note is 80% was traffic on mobile, see the scale India is buying on mobile. It clearly shows the usage of mobile over Computer and Laptops, that means that people are buying things from their house or may be outside with their friends and relatives. So mobility has been overtaking the way we do business. Few years back it was not digesting when the first online company started selling and now see the acceptability. So the growth rate on mobile grew by 7x over last year in Amazon, similarly in other ecommerce sites may be.

And one interesting thing we should know is Cus-tomers from 90% pin codes across the country ordered

at least one item from Amazon.in during the Great Indian Festival with 5x growth in customer acquisition with 70% of new customers coming from tier II and tier III geogra-phies. The orders from over 2000 new pin codes over last year is changing. The highest run rate product as per the analysis were Mobiles grew at 5x compared to the daily run rate, Large appliances grew by 7x as compare to the daily run rate, TV witnessed a 25x growth, Fashion grew at 4x the daily run rate, Consumables saw a growth of 5x to the daily run rate. Sellers from 824 new pincodes received orders in the event. People sitting in remote areas who cannot get the product in thier village or town are find-ing online and that too at cheaper price. Also, if we see the cities, the fast increase in traffic is making people buy online without moving on busy roads, choking in traffic. I am sharing this data so that we all should be aware of what is happening online and how the market is moving from shops to online business.

Its difficult to anyalyse where exactly the online world is going but onething is sure that the broadband & 4G speeds will definitely play a vital role in building more online shops killing the traditional business. The tradi-tional and also e-commerce business is undergoing rapid change and progress. In the coming years we anticipate the birth of a re-imagined retail industry driven by the integration of online, offline, logistics and data across a single value chain. Let us understand better and make the change.

Bitdefender, a leading Internet security tech-nology company, records growing numbers of hacker attacks on government agencies and public sector organizations worldwide. Experts underline India with its large-scale digitization programs has emerged as one of most frequent targets.

Despite ongoing efforts to bolster the cyber security of agencies that have a huge impact on the lives of many citizens worldwide, some of the biggest and most well-publicized breaches in recent years have come against public sector orga-

Zion RAM, one of the fastest growing & most preferred memory brands in India, announces the extension to its service support with the

announcement of 3 years’ National Direct paperless warranty on all of its memory Modules. Zion being the only RAM brand in

India to offer integrated paperless warranty sup-port to their after sale service.

Setting new standards of quality and reliability of RAM modules in the Indian market, Zion now gives you the freedom to claim warranty with-out having to present an invoice or purchase bill, which means that you don’t have to keep running around from one service center to another or wait in long queues to get your product replaced. Fur-thermore, with national direct support, you can also exchange all of Zion’s memory module across any of its service center in India irrespective of its purchase place.

Speaking on the service announcement Mr. Vipul Modi, Marketing Head Zion says, “ZION RAM offers great value of money and its quality can be easily compared with any of the best brands avail-able in the market and with the National Direct paperless warranty support on all of the compa-ny’s products we have set a new standard for after sale service support amongst the top RAM distrib-utors in the Indian market”

In order to modern-ize the Indian market and streamline the network channels across the coun-try, Belkin, a people-in-

spired brand that harnesses the power of technol-ogy to connect people and the experiences they love, today announced Rashi Peripherals as their authorized National distributor in India. Rashi Peripherals, the pioneer IT & mobile distributors will distribute Belkin’s complete range of products begging September 2016.

Speaking on the occasion, Kartik Bakshi, Coun-try Manager Belkin India, said,” Looking at the cur-rent opportunities in India around technology, we

Oracle has announced innovations to the Oracle Marketing Cloud that will transform the way consumer marketers interact with custom-ers across channels. First to market in 2009 with the “Program Canvas”, these new enhancements make it easier for marketers to develop person-alized customer experiences across web, mobile web, display, mobile apps and email, and to deliver these experiences based on unified consumer identities from different channels.

nizations, Bitdefender researchers point out.According to Bogdan Botezatu, a Senior

E-threat Analyst with Bitdefender, a leading Inter-net security technology company, the government agencies are particularly popular targets for cyber espionage, in which external threat actors such as state-affiliated organizations or nation states infil-trate networks looking for sensitive data.

Botezatu turns to Verizon’s 2016 Data Breach Investigations Report, which looked at security threats in 20 different industries, to emphasize that public sector entities were at the top of the list of espionage-related attacks. While accord-ing to PwC’s Global State of Information Security Survey 2016, the barrage of attacks against public sector agencies shows no signs of abating: these types of organizations detected 137% more cyber security incidents in 2015 than the year before.

“We’ve seen substantial attacks against gov-ernment agencies in 2016, following the epic 2015 hack against the U.S. Office of Personnel Management that resulted in the theft of sensitive personal information about more than 20 million people both inside and outside the government,” Bogdan Botezatu says.

at Belkin are extremely keen to focus and amplify our channel network to strengthen our presence in the country. We have partnered with Rashi Periph-erals as our national distributor to ascertain the finest coverage of the Indian market, embracing all the industry segments, geographies and verti-cal markets. With their domain proficiency, post-sales support and comprehensive reach, we look forward to not only having a strong foothold in the market but also add great value to our customers.”

Belkin’s distributor has extensive reach with 53 offices located in India. The merger between Belkin and Rashi Peripherals would further rein-force & enlarge Belkin’s outreach in Indian market. “Associating with a global technology leader, Bel-kin is a brilliant prospect for Rashi Peripherals to enhance our product offerings. Moreover, we will be focusing on growing Belkin nationwide, intro-duce the brand to new channel partners and boost brand awareness,” said Mr. Kapal Pansari, Director, Rashi Peripherals.

“Effectively orchestrating cross-channel mar-keting activities can be extremely complex for brands, but it is an area that marketing must tackle as discrepancies in experiences, and some-

times prices, erode trust and distance customers from a brand. To help our customers address these challenges, we have broken down the silos that typically separate marketing teams with our new

cross-channel marketing solution. This will help improve collaboration and empower marketing to orchestrate relevant real-time experiences,” said Steve Krause, Group Vice-President – Product Management, Oracle Marketing Cloud.

The “Orchestration Canvas” is a simple, yet sophisticated user interface of the Oracle Market-ing Cloud that enables consumer marketers to effi-ciently manage experiences at every touch point throughout the entire consumer lifecycle. Addi-tional enhancements include a Mobile App Visual Editor where marketers can test and optimize mobile experiences across their mobile apps and as a part of the cross-channel experience. With the new additions to the Oracle Marketing Cloud, mar-keters can now benefit from.

NEC has developed a system called “Running Police” that supports security operations with smartphones, wearable cameras and wearable devices.Around the world, there are situations where police goes on patrol and perform their duties donning wearable cameras. While this means they can share images between the scene and the police HQ directing operations, these systems are also effective for providing evidence at a later time, and suppressing excessive chase speed or

Built-in camera technologies improve with every new generation of smartphones. As Samsung, Apple, and now Google introduce more advanced photographic capabilities into their products, consumers continue to switch from dedicated cameras to phones for all of their photo and video capture needs. While photo capabilities have improved tremendously, when we consider the state of smartphone video capture, our first thought is often “shaky cam”. Although technol-ogies like optical image stabilization help to reduce jitter, they cannot eliminate it. Traditional camera stabilizer mounts tend to be large, expensive, and generally not designed for phones. DJI’s new Osmo Mobile changes the game by making the motorized gimbal affordable and phone-friendly. In addition to the basic gimbal functionality, consumers can enhance their videos by using DJI’s unique combi-nation of hardware and software to track objects in view or to make smooth motion time-lapse videos. With the introduction of the Osmo Mobile, DJI has furthered the field of phone-sourced videography.

Panasonic Bendable, Twistable Battery Wearables are all the rave today. Apple Watch, Android Wear, fitness bands, smart shoes, camera sunglasses, you name it. Like every consumer electronics device, every wear-able needs power. We’re hard on our bodies, flexing them this way and that - just look at any athletic video. Therefore our wearables, too, must bend and shift with our bodies. The rigid batteries of today get in the way of wearables’ progress. Panasonic’s first-of-its-kind bendable and twistable battery enables new form factors to emerge, such as watch bands with embedded batteries, smarter smart shoes, cam-era hats - you name it. Panasonic’s new technology enables wearable industry to innovate, knowing the power will be there and properly fit into place.

ROBOTICS

EPSON

Epson announced the launch of its new 6-axis industrial robot, the C8 series robots. Along with the robots, Epson also provides advanced force sensor and vision system options as part of its technology features.

The new force sensors enable the robots to execute complex manufacturing tasks requiring high precision. With the force sensors, the robots are now able to ‘feel’ forces as limited as 0.1 New-ton, and can perform tasks such as assembling del-icate components. The sensors can also be used on tasks requiring human sensory perception such as polishing and deburring, freeing people from repetitive manual work.

The C8 series robots carry the highest pay-loads in Epson’s robot range, handling up to 8kg at

It doesn’t just move its arms or legs, or sing and dance; this “RoBoHoN” mobile robot tele-phone takes photographs, uses a laser scanning projector in its forehead to project images on the floor or wall, holds interesting conversations, and even comes equipped with a SIM card slot. It won popularity on its release in 2015 last year, and has drawn attention from attendees this year too, just as it turns one.

Recently, Sharp Corporation began offering the “Work Pack,” comprising three applications for RoBoHoN, and announced that it would move to full-blown use in business applications.

A variety of different uses are anticipated, including reception duties, floor responsibilities at food establishments, and Sharp is offering demon-strations in this line at its booth. Furthermore, in preparation for inbound demand, the company says it will add English- and Chinese-language sup-port in fiscal 2016. You are welcome to call at the booth to experience the appeal of the compact, charming, intelligent RoBoHon.

Fujitsu’s AI exhibits include performances of conversations between and MC and the company’s

mediator robot “Robopin.” Robopin features image recognition and voice syn-thesis technology, and can read people’s expressions and talk while expressing feelings.

Interfacing with a com-puter can feel rather “cold”. Unless your focus is on 100%

efficiency, you know that there’s nothing that can beat the human touch when it comes to customer service. This is particularly evident in industries like Japan where they are famous for their level of customer service.

However employing humans also means hav-ing to deal with certain variables out of a compa-ny’s control, and Fujitsu might have come up with a way to solve that with a cute little robot called Robopin. According to the company, the Robopin is meant to provide a humanized experience when dealing with AI/computers through various little emotions that it can display.

high speeds with minimal vibration. Its advanced residual vibration control technology utilizing Epson’s Quartz Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (QMEMS) senses angular velocity and feedback to help significantly reduce vibration during motion.

One of the lightest robots in its class, the C8 series robots delivers high speed and precision in a compact space with maximum flexibility – its compact wrist and slim body design provides a wide range of motion for tight spaces.

The industrial robots can also be equipped with Epson Vision Guide software as an option – advanced machine vision and image processing systems that provide an interface for developing

robot vision app l i ca t ions . With this, the robots are able to ‘see’ and identify objects intelli-gently during the produc-tion process, enabling it to pick randomly

positioned products for high precision placing and assembly.

The next announcement was the Mobile Robot LD Platform, a new indoor transportation robot designed to realize the “Sensing & Control +Think” strategy in manufacturing. The Mobile Robot LD is a carrier robot equipped with pro-prietary AI technol-ogy, which allows it to transport mate-rials to a target location while cal-culating the optimal route and avoiding humans and obsta-cles. The robots are ideally suited for a wide range of indoor environments, including facilities manufac-turing car parts, electronics, foods and pharma-ceuticals, as well as warehouses and research facil-ities. While earlier automatically moving robots generally functioned by reading markers such as lines on the floor, the Mobile Robot LD utilizes a built-in laser scanner to detect its environment, and automatically maps space available for move-ment. The robot compares the map and the laser

scanner input to determine its position, and plots a route for transporting up to 130 kg of cargo while steering clear of obstacles and humans. The product was introduced by Eiji Ikeno, Deputy

General Manager of Omron Industrial Automation’s Robotics Advancement Project. Having described transformative changes taking place in the manu-facturing industry, includ-ing the sophistication of manufacturing, establish-ment of global manufactur-ing, personnel shortages and the resulting need for increased automation, he introduced a vision for

the future of manufacturing where “humans and machines co-exist and work together.” Ikeno demonstrated a future vision where “ultra-pro-ductivity” with sensing and assistive robotics, and freely customizable, “ultra-flexible” production lines consisting of mobile robots combined with traditional machines, have revolutionized manu-facturing.

TECHNOLOGY

Ever since the introduction of the first automo-bile one thing has remained constant despite the evolution of performance and appearance – cars have always had a driver. The concept of driverless vehicles opens up for new potential applications as well as business models. In fact, the removal of the driver is arguably the most sig-nificant and transformative innovation ever faced by the automotive industry. Some of the potential benefits that follow are safer, more efficient and more convenient journeys. Self-driving cars open up completely new ways to deal with transpor-tation – fleets of autonomous cars could in the future handle entire cities’ need for personal mobility with much fewer vehicles than are used today. SAE International has developed a six level standard (0–5), where semi-autonomous function-ality starts in the second level. The third level is

the first to provide some actual auton-omy in the sense that the driver can divert attention from the road although he or she must be able to regain control of the vehicle with some seconds of prior warning. The fourth level provides full autonomy in specific use cases of various complexity. In 2015, the first semi-autonomous (SAE Level 2) car models were intro-duced on the market and reached sales of an estimated 194,000 cars. This num-ber is forecasted to increase by almost 57 percent to reach new registrations of about 304,000 Level 2 capable vehicles

in 2016. By 2030 an estimated 43 million cars will be sold featuring Level 2 capability and the active installed base will have reached about 177 million cars. The total number of new registrations of auton-omous (SAE Level 3 and 4) cars is forecasted to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 62 percent from 0.2 million units in 2020 to reach 24 million units in 2030. The active installed base of autonomous cars is forecasted to have reached about 71 million at the end of the forecast period. SAE Level 3 and 4 cars will consti-tute about 16.5 million and 7.8 million of the cars sold in 2030. However, Level 4 sales are expected to overtake Level 3 in the years following 2030. Cars with Level 5 capability are not expected to emerge before 2030 and potentially much later.

“To dream the impossible dream.” These are the powerful words sung by Andy Williams in a Honda TV advert back in 2005. We’ve all been there: As children, we drew our dream cars on paper; and now, we can apply the same imagina-tion to 3D printing and actually build a car. This is the vision of Honda’s Variable Design Platform: Just give designers the base chassis of a compact electric vehicle, then let them devise and print out car parts to suit their clients’ needs — be it for delivery, for setting up a mobile coffee shop or even just for having a cute-looking car to promote one’s brand. Thanks to the latest 3D printing advancements, it’s never been easier to customize a car on so many levels, as proven by Kabuku’s beautiful design for the Toshimaya delivery car shown. Needless to say, this Variable Design Platform opens up limitless opportunities to both the design industry and the 3D printing ecosystem. As Honda’s very own slogan puts it: This is a company that’s truly embracing the power of dreams.

We have succeeded to develop an artificial upper limb: General Purpose Arm (GP-Arm). Conventional robotic arms lack tactile sensation. Therefore, the conventional robotic arms have a fateful flaw in contact motions. In contrast, the developed GP-Arm can generate flexible and powerful motions by adjusting contact force, as a precise haptic technology is implemented. This GP-Arm makes us possible to handle human motion data including force information. We can storage, edit, and reproduce human motions. The GP-Arm can work as an alternative to human labor in such as industry, home, welfare care, medical care, and agriculture.

Even though the event was to discuss on plenty of things, the association had

shortlisted three key areas where they can work together.1. Service and support2. Sales promotion3. Corporate Social ResponsibilityService and training:Discussing about the post-sale issue, the associa-tion put forth all the issues related to DoA, war-ranty -related service issues and toll-free numbers, including the vernacular language support for the customers who call and more. The association discussed in detail, the legal issues a channel face when it comes on an issue between the customer and partner. Stating some instances, the associa-tion said that the Indian legal system is in a way where the seller is suable and many are facing multiple issues even losing the hard-earned cus-tomers. The vendors were asked to have a clear cut policy in terms of the instances where legal part comes in. While many vendors gave various responses, the association clearly ensured that no single vendor should be getting squeezed by the jumbled legal process which always indexes the first-level of sale. The association also requested the vendors to have a proper certification policies as in most of the cases, even genuine partners do not have a certificate which boomerang against them at critical situations. On the training part, the association requested the vendors to give equal importance for the members

across the towns and not just focusing on the top cities. Many members raised concerns that in the recent days, no proper training is happening from the vendors which makes the channel community outdated of the products they sell. The association assured platform for the vendors to conduct reg-ular technical meet (including the hands on train-ing). With the association having different zones in the state, the vendors were told that they can make use of the opportunity to reach out to max-imum partners.Product promotions:The association was key on protecting the mem-bers from the online competition. While most of the participants accepted that the online sale has not succeeded many vendors had decided that the traditional channel is to live against the unethical e-sale. On the other hand the association had also put forth the key expectation that the vendors should ensure that there should be uniqueness for the Confed members. Be it in terms of goodies, offers, margin protection, having a decent MRP. Speaking specially on the festive season, the asso-ciation requested the vendors to provide an exclu-sive package for their members to win the custom-ers mind during the festival seasons.Channel social responsibility:According to the corporate laws, every corpo-rate organization is supposed to spend particular amount for the society. The association requested the vendors to extend their corporate social responsibility to their channel partners and their employees. The association believes that the CSR can be used for the welfare of the members, their family, employees in terms of the health and social activities.
