The latest addition in a channel partner’s headache along with filthy competition, unethi-cal e-sale, under-cutting, there is a latest entry in the same. Many partners were screaming in social media that IT products were shown doors while applied for a bank loan.

Saddest part is some nationalized banks too are not thrilled by the proposals to IT business. Most of the channel partners moan on the reason quoted by the banks- IT products are diminishing and added in not-so-performing sector. The chan-nel also has been given irrelevant responses only for not to provide any financial assistance for the dealers.

However, the issue is different with the private financial sector. The private finance agencies are not rejecting the desired finance requests. How-ever, the interest rates are sky-high which a chan-nel partner cannot afford with the current market

conditions. The other face of the challenge from the private sectors is no proper guidelines for pro-viding the financial loans. A leading finance agency which approves loan in one city for an IT dealer is rejecting the same product 30 kilometer away from the former.

There are still some associations manage to get finance companies sponsor for their regular events. This is a positive sign and shows there is still hope for the channel industry to grab spon-sorships from the private finance companies. The IT associations across the country should start immediate focus on this issue with uttermost pri-ority. The newly-formed teams across the states and districts associations should start interacting with the private finance agencies or banks and ink for partnership.

“Understand the customer” Those may be the three most important words for a specialty retailer. Experts say they’re the absolute core of business. We hear people say they don’t know what they want until they

Cadyce REDEFINES THE TRICKS OF THE TRADE

see it. And as it turns out, specialty retail on carts and kiosks is all about impulse buying.Whether customers

realize it or not, impulse buying represents a large percentage of the profits for many retail stores. It’s important that a business finds ways to drive impulse buying and maximize revenues. It just takes some creative ingenuity and a little effort. Shoppers are more inclined to make unplanned

purchases at physical stores compared with e-com-merce sites. Being in their faces and placing the focus clearly on what you’re selling so that they can make a quick selection sums up what a kiosk operator (or in our case retail store owner) needs to do. Without the burden of driving to the mall, finding the product in aisles and standing in long checkout lines, online buys are said to avoid the “mid-purchase pause” that derails in-store impulse purchases.Retail stores should strategize ways to influence customer shopping behavior, to prevent cart aban-donment and to drive unplanned, impulse purchases in-store during this time of continued economic uncertainty. Some retailers sell products that are more conducive to impulse buying than others. For example, a toy store with lots of candy and cheap knickknacks at the checkout counter is going to have a lot more success than an electronics store that sells $800 televisions. However, regardless of what you’re in the business of selling, you can capitalize on impulse buys. It all comes down to product place-ment, promotion, and type.

Cisco’s finest teams will mentor start-ups and developers on how to help create digital solutions to enable enterprise customers, service providers and other enablers in the public and private sphere to connect the next three billion people and 50 billion devices through digitisation, matching appealing ideas with business expertise and connecting engineering talent with investors and customers. Cisco will also provide a space at its Bengaluru campus with access to a suite of Cisco technologies and free grants to startups cho-sen to work at its campus.

Amit Phadnis, President, Engineering and India Site Leader:

“Imagine the innovation you will create when you provide global scale to the best ideas of the world’s youngest startup nation and second big-gest developer community. We have an unprec-edented opportunity to digitize the next three billion people in one-third the time it took to con-nect the first three billion. Through Cisco Launch-Pad we want to unleash the next generation of disruptive ideas and help turn the entrepreneurs of today into the business leaders of tomorrow.”

Home to more technology startups than any other Indian city, Bengaluru offers a powerful combina-tion of talent and infrastructure as well as busi-ness, academic, and research expertise. India is the youngest startup and developer nation in the world with 72% of startup founders less than 35 years old and the average developer less than 29 years old. India is projected to have the world’s largest number of developers by 2018.

Cisco LaunchPad will involve a rigorous selec-tion process based on the viability of applicants’ business plans, the strength of their teams and their alignment with Cisco’s digitization vision. Through LaunchPad, the startups will get an opportunity to work on solving business relevant problems by catering to use cases that are iden-tified and validated by Cisco go-to-market teams. The target of such innovative solutions will be to help digitize the next three billion people, and will initially focus on manufacturing, retail, transpor-tation, education and healthcare. The LaunchPad program will focus on the innovation and mone-tization opportunities in these industries and will help unlock new markets. The successful appli-cants will have unprecedented access to Cisco, the company’s channel partner ecosystem and select customers, and will offer startups a worldwide go-to-market engine to validate and scale innova-tive ideas.

As an example of the powerful innovation pos-sible through Cisco LaunchPad, Cisco and Tech Mahindra Limited announced a collaboration to develop digital solutions for the Indian electric utilities. Cisco and Tech Mahindra will work with select startups and developers to accelerate digiti-zation of the power sector and transform the way electricity is delivered to and used by people

Underlying its commitment to digitization, Cisco already runs Cisco Digitization Acceleration and Cisco Investment programs in India. The Cisco LaunchPad initiative is the latest effort towards that commitment.

Mr Anwar Shirpurwala, Executive Director, MAIT said, “A large volume of electronics and IT waste gets accumulated at government offices and there should be proper training imparted to the concerned stakeholders for better handling and disposal of such e-waste .The government must ensure heads of departments and other staff are sensitized to the need for responsible manage-ment of e-waste, understand e-waste management laws, and strictly adhere to the rules and best prac-tices on a day-to-day basis. We applaud DeitY and NIELIT for making this timely intervention.”

The vision of the MAIT-NIELIT ‘Train-the-Trainer’ e-Waste Management Program is to have at least one official in each government organisa-tion trained to manage e-waste. INDIA NOW A NEW REGION IN GLOBAL MICROSOFT CHANNEL FORUM

IAMCP (International association of Microsoft Channel partners), through its official portal has officially wel-comed IAMCP India as the latest new region. It is now a decade since the IAMCP onboarded its last new region, Latin America (LATAM), and it now looks east with its latest addition to the global community. This is a historical step for the IAMCP that is proud to welcome India as an IAMCP Tier Two Board which means it gains similar regional status to USA, LATAM,

WTO Director-General, Roberto Azevedo, Tuesday said that the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in developing countries often “do not have the ability to

get around the problems of e-commerce”. Azevedo listed the obsta-cles faced by developing countries, such as high digital infrastructure costs, lack of compliance with le-gal and fiscal requirements

of foreign e-markets, underdeveloped financial and pay-ment systems and low consumer trust. He said MSMEs in developing countries often “do not have the ability to get around these problems”.“We could look at how we can support small suppli-ers to market their products in a timely fashion, with competitive prices and reliable customer support. This would help consumers to have full confidence in buying from MSMEs in the digital environment,” Azevedo told a workshop in Geneva on Tuesday. The workshop was organised by the governments of Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey and Australia. E-commerce can play a pivotal role in fostering growth and raising living standards, particularly for developing countries, he said.“By reducing the trade costs associated with physical distance, e-commerce allows businesses to access the global marketplace, reach a broader network of buyers and participate in international trade,” said Azevedo. The workshop, which had inputs, among others from Indian NGO Consumer Unity and Trust Society (CUTS) International, was told that Africa and the Middle-East share less than two percent of the world e-commerce market.Meanwhile, the draft bill of India’s destination-based, dual VAT-type Goods and Services Tax (GST) published last month has clarified that all e-commerce transac-tions will attract GST which will be collected by the ser-vice operator as soon as the supplier receives payment. The model GST law, approved by Indian states’ Finance Ministers says, “Every electronic commerce operator shall, at the time of credit of any amount to the account of the supplier of goods and/or services or at the time of payment of any amount in cash or by any other mode, whichever is earlier, collect an amount representing consideration towards the supply of goods and/or ser-vices made through it.”Bringing e-commerce under the purview of GST, which will unify the myriad indirect taxes, is likely to end the kind of recent arbitrary moves by state governments of Uttarakhand, Assam and Bihar that imposed a 10 per-cent entry tax on goods sold online. E-commerce com-panies in India have to currently deal with a complex tax framework involving VAT, central sales tax (CST), excise, and service tax.For instance, for digital downloads like software, music and e-books, confusion over whether the transaction is for sale of goods attracting VAT and CST, or a provision of service liable for service tax, has led to many litiga-tions.

ASIRT, the Mumbai based SI and retailer association, known for bringing innovation in every aspect they do as an association, has recently brought someone who has ‘Cheated Death’. The forum has recently conducted their CEO & Business Owners monthly fixture: ASIRT Techday that was attended by over a 100 members and dignitaries. The speaker was someone who conquered Mount Everest, the tallest mountain on the planet. Kuntal Joisher, who cheated death from an avalanche from massive Earthquake in Nepal and Mt. Everest on 25th April, 2015 and survived not only to tell the tale, but also shot the avalanche that has over 2.3 crore hits on youtube was the speaker at ASIRT Techday June 2016, a month after he scaled Mount Everest. More so, Kuntal is a vegan, he doesn’t even have milk and milk products apart from being a vegetarian. Armed with stunning videos and visuals from the top of the world, mountaineering experiences, it was an inspiring story of someone who failed 3 attempts at scaling Mount Everest, a truly charging and motivating tale of someone whose background no way prepared him for such an achievement. A vegan and a software engineer, it was a story that unfolded in pictures of how

EMEA and Canada. Given the strength not only in IAMCP in India, but also the strength and great progess in India as a nation, IAMCP claims it is honored to approve IAMCP India’s application. This new region is the latest in a variety of new innovations IAMCP has made in the last 12 months, which also include the addition of an International vot-ing board seat for Women in Technology, a complete overhaul to ratify and modernize bylaws and now the official recognition of the opportunity to facilitate and encourage great new partnerships by approving and welcoming IAMCP India.IAMCP is the largest independent community of Mic-rosoft channel partners globally. With thousands of members in over 40 countries, IAMCP continues to demonstrate its leadership influence to drive the parter-to-partner (P2P) agenda for Microsoft and its channel partners worldwide.

he made his attempts, how he failed, how he survived the avalanche triggered by the biggest earthquake that ever hit Mt Everest. Above all, it was a story of rise from ashes – a never give up spirit – FEW would return after having almost been killed the earlier year. But Kuntal did to conquer Mt.Everest.A far reaching inspirational message from ASIRT to members to rise against all adversities, surviving calam-ities, and never giving up on your dreams. The session was followed by business coaching session by Dr Radhakrishnan Pillai, management guru, advisor to several top corporate houses, universities in India and abroad and author of several best-selling books on Chanakya wisdom in corporate and business world. The series on Chanakya’s seven pillars this was the third session of Dr Swami on Chanakya’s third pillar: Janapa-da; or the market. How to build and protect your mar-kets within your target segment, protect your share and dominate the category to build business that would grow as well as survive turmoil, Dr Swami’s talk was laced with several examples of governance, corporate leaders, companies and businesses. Members interact-ed freely during the interactive session.Having preempted the impact of speaker sessions, ASIRT Board did not have a sponsor session as time was at premium and sparse. “We did not want members to dilute the impact of mo-tivational ‘never say die’ and ‘win all frontiers’ sessions”, said President Arvind Singh, “Sponsors can wait, as a for-the-members association, we want them to take home something that impacts not only their business-es, but also helps the industry as a whole; the VALUES ASIRT STANDS FOR.”
