Between the DII and NMO Teams
Frankie Jackson met with Greg Rhodes, Paula Ross, and Larry Barrios on Monday, May 8, 2017 to discuss
sharing resources between the Device Imaging and Integration (DII) team and the Network Management
Operations (NMO) team. NMO has the need to increase resources in the area of Microsoft Active Directory.
There are synergistic tasks that could be shared between the two teams. Plans are underway to split staff and
resources in June 2017.

The afternoon of the EdTech Advocacy and Policy summit on May 11, 2017 included travelling to Capitol Hill
to meet with representatives from House and Senate offices. It concluded with a networking reception with
peers, national leaders and congressional staff. The primary goal for meeting with representatives was to
raise awareness of policy agenda that advances federal funding for education technology and protects e-rate
funding. See this article that recently came out that includes an interview with Frankie about E-Rate funding.

Katie Hernandez, Kim Bowlin, Paula Ross and Frankie Jackson worked all week leading up to the E-Rate filing
window deadline on May 11, 2017, to file E-Rate 2017-2018 funding requests. All worked tirelessly with
Education Partners Solution (EPS) and ESC12 E-Rate Works, the district’s E-Rate consulting firms, to get all of
the contracts, bid documents, board approvals, and bill of materials organized for the E-Rate 471 filings. It was a
MONUMENTAL effort full of complexities and design considerations.
The following shows the amount of funds requested in 2016-2017 by vendor. A total of $4.959.709 is expected
in funding returns! Kim Bowlin, Paula Ross, Katie Hernandez, ESC12, and Ed and Polly Gifford’s (EPS) support
was tremendous as the process is tedious and complex!

On May 10-11, 2017, I had the opportunity to
\ participate in the EdTech Policy Summit in
Washington, D.C. on behalf of the Consortium of
School Networking (CoSN). It included meeting
with representatives to raise awareness of policy agenda that
advances federal funding for education technology and
protect e-rate funding. It was an amazing experience to be
with representatives from across the nation, all promoting
and working together to advocate for technology in K-12
education. I was proud to serve CyFair ISD and was
humbled by the opportunity - Frankie Jackson
