The X-ONE Android Taximeter is designed to be, at the same time, easy to use and extremely powerful. This manual is conceived to be user friendly, more graphical and easy to understand.

In the fi rst section are described the electrical connections, the ways to fi x and lead the taxime-ter, how to assemble the sensor box.

The second section explain the meter’s operative modes, the functions and the programming phase (Autotest, Statistical Memory, “Trip by Trip” buffer and the Tariff programming).

The third sections contains the description of all the tariff programming parameters.

X-One Android TaximeterThe new X-One Android device is industrial grade and automotive certificate mobile data terminal with stand-alone embedded taximeter.

FULLY CERTIFIED EMBEDDED TAXIMETER Special features:

The Taximeter runs on a dedicated standalone CPU, which make possible to certify the sole taximeter independently than Androids system and apps

leaving free developers to keep updated their android application without involve taximeter certifications.

Furthermore the taximeter, been based on completely HW & SW CPU independent from Android system, will continue fully working even in case of

android freeze, restarts, shut down ecc.

The mechanical buttons and printer are HW connected directly to the taximeter CPU, so in case android freeze or corrupts, as in this event the display

and touchscreen will be not working, the taximeter can still be operated from mechanical bottoms and the journey amount and data printed on the receipt.

The custom Digitax/Android OS, do not allow to any application to overwrite the reserved windows for the traximeter.

Digitax’s new generation device provided with multi-mode LTE Cat.4 module and Android 6.1/7.1 OS. It includes short-range wireless communication via

Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and BT4.1 LE, and offers data rates up to 150 Mbps.

The device also combines high-speed wireless connectivity with embedded multi-constellation and high-sensitivity GPS+GLONASS+BeiDou receiver

for positioning.

A rich set of interfaces ad devices (embedded double Camera 2 and 5 Mpix,and or external ethernet IP Camera 7” Graphic display at 1024x800 resolution

DUAL CPU

Primary CPU: Qualcom Quad Cortex 1.4GHz processor with Adreno 304 GPU, OpenGL ES 3.0, OpenCL, DirectX, content security and QDSP6 DSP

inside, allows this Device to supply a remarkable flexibility and efficiency in computing power, together with reduced power consumption.

Secondary CPU: AITP (Automotive Intensive Task Processor) dedicated to the embedded taximeter furthermore supplies the necessary functionalities in

the automotive field, like power management, Safe Shutdown, Wheel Pulses Odometer, Distance and Speed calculation, Wake-Up on Ring, Over-the-Air

services for software and firmware updates. The AITP is OTA programmable for remote automatic firmware and tariff upgrade, and is always powered

ON; it can turn-ON and OFF the Device and its peripherals.

The Device represents the state-of-the-art device for job dispatching certified taximeter, security and fleets management, an ALL-IN-ONE industrial grade

and automotive compliant, powerful and compact solution.

Its 4G LTE modem allows very reliable communication with operating headquarters.

The vehicle is located by the high performance GPS/GLONASS/BeiDo receiver.

CUSTOMIZABLE USER INTERFACE

The 7 inches 16:9 clear readable TFT Displays with HD 1024x800 @60fp resolution allow to develop versatile and high accessible applications, thanks

also to the integrated TouchScreen controller, and to the 6 keys with LEDs available.

Hardware Keys avoid consumption and damage of Touch Screen for heavily used operations.

to choose The ambient light sensor allows an optimal brightness of the display in any environmental light.

The power key is a Smart Power Button, completely programmable and used to perform several important tasks.

Can be also disabled or programmed to trigger Ghost Mode (fake shutdown).

STEALTH MODE

Stealth mode is a special operating mode in which the system is working but the display and audio is OFF.

This feature can be useful in several situations:

Driver Control: System has also the wake up on ring feature, so at the central it is possible to remotely turn-ON the device (also in stealth mode so nobody

can see that it is starting) in order to check vehicle position, internal audio listening and other data.

Ghost Mode: It is possible to set the device so that after pressing the shut down but on the system goes on stealth mode instead of turning OFF. This

feature is useful if you want the device to remain always ON (it turns OFF only the display, reducing power consumption)or in an alarm situation.

Alarm managing: If system is OFF and alarm but on is pressed the system can be started in stealth mode, so nobody can see that the system starts.

On this special start the system can be programmed for example to send an alarm message to the central, GPS position or also screenshots or audio..

HIGH AVAILABILITY

The Device has been designed for professional automotive application, it is fully automotive certified, can withstand glitches at car engine start, over

voltage up to 32V and immunity to ESD and EMC interferences

The AITP processor gives time to user applications and Android O.S. to close gracefully and safely in case of sudden disconnection of the Main Power.

INPUTS AND OUTPUTS

The Device supplies a wide range of communication channels with the external environment: Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Host, one USB Device and up to 7 RS232

and RS485 Serial Ports.

The special programmable digital inputs and outputs allow to control devices and read signals coming from generic external equipment’s.

Fix them with the cable blocking plate

Dashboard Fitting

Clean the dashboard surface that the bracket is to be fi xed to with a clean cloth with alcohol or a suit-able cleaning (de-grasing) solution

Place the bracket in position without removing the protective fi lm.

Carefully model the bracket wings to fi t the dash-board.

Make sure the surface is grease and polish free.

Press the bracket wings down into position on the dashboard.

Remove the protective fi lm from the glue pad on the base of the bracket.

Dashboard Fitting

Gently warm the dashboard where the bracket is to be fi tted.

Firmly press the bracket into position to obtain the best adhesion pressure.

Fix the X-One Android to the bracket using the screws provided.

Gently warm the adhesive pad on the bracket in the same way.

Adjust the ball bracket so the face place is in the best position to allow the X-One Android to be fi tted to it.

Adjust the bracket so the taximeter screen is in the best position for the driver.

Windscreen Fitting

Make sure the required area is clean, grease and polish free.

Warm the glass where the bracket is to be fi tted.

Firmly press the bracket onto the glass to obtain the best adhesion possible.

Remove the protective fi lm from the adhesive pad on the base of the bracket.

Using the screws provided fi x the taximeter to the bracket.

Combo Antenna Installation

Apply sealing silicone to the base of the antenna.

Secure the antenna tightly into position with the 22mm nut.

Tape up the antenna connection.

Place the antenna into position.

Connect the antenna cables to the antenna.

Tape up the antenna cables each 40-50 cm.

The “E-Seal” Reading, is included in the “SelfFuntion Menu”. This is the procedure to enter it:1) Keep pressed F3 at least for two seconds to enter in the menu selection2) Select E-Seal menu by pressing F3 key

“E-Seal”- Electronic Sealing:1st Section: Last 100 Reading Changes DoneThe “E-Seal” is a non-erasable memory splitted in two sections where, in the fi rst section, are recorded the last 100 alterations made on the programming functions. These are shown on the displays or printed, with detailed information of: index nr, event, date, year and hour. The second section is made of permanent, non-resettable, progressive individual events counter, incremented by each event alterations without details. The fi rst section is by default a FIFO buffer, with the last 100 events recorded, but can be confi gured by tariff to disable the FIFO and block the taximeter when it reaches its maximum capacity. The second sections (counters) is never FIFO, and when reaches its maximum capacity of 1000 events on any counter, the taximeter shows “ESEAL FULL” and it is blocked until the mechanical seal is broken and the taximeter is again initialized.

In order to avoid possible fraudulent use of the taximeter, it is possible to ac� vate an alterna� ve way of star� ng a

trip, that allows to select the desired tariff when the taximeter is s� ll in For Hire posi� on, and so to start the trip

directly with the pre-selected tariff .

Tariff pre-selec� on is ac� vated by changing the following setup ques� ons:

When Pre-Selection is enabled:

pressing F1 key from “For Hire” position is shown the Tariff Selection menu, and the driver has to select the tariff number.

To start with scrolling through the tariffs with F3 (up)

and F2 (down).

The selected tariff is confi rmed by pressing F1 key again, and so the taximeter starts the trips directly with the Pre-selected tariff.

If the tariff is not selected in 5 seconds, the taximeter goes back to “For Hire” position

The K-Constant(Car Transmission Ratio)The “K Constant” is the number of pulses per Kilometer emitted by a transducer and received by a taximeter.K Constant = Pulses/Kilometer

The pulses can be emitted by the car’s electronic transducer or, if the car is not provide of it, by the Digitax mechanical one or by a third part interface. This constant can be known or be tested on road.

How to fi nd out the K-Constant value (Autotest)If you don’t know the K-Constant it is possible to self calculate and save the K-Constant by autocalibration pro-cedureFor a right procedure it is required to select and sign a straight test road of 1.000 meters

1) Align carefully the car’s front wheels with the test distance‘s start point (0 meters).

9) Press the OP button in order to fi nish the Autotest procedure, save and return back to For Hire position.Remove the Black Service Programming Key from the taximeter. End

Diagnostic Tariff Test (Check Sum)With this procedure it i possible to:

• calculate the tariff check sum

• print out the tariff program (if printer is connected and powered on)

Select For Hire position.Press F2 and F5 at the same time.

Both displays (3 and 5) will show in sequence the numbers from 0 to 9.

The printer, if connected to the taximeter and powered on, will print out all the tariff setup.

After few seconds or when the printing procedure is fi nished the main display (3) will show STOP and then the tariff check sum corresponding to the binary addition of all the programmed parameters will appear, so each tariff will have its own resulting checksum. The secondary (5) display will show the fi rmware country identifi er.

The taximeter will go back in For Hire position after few sec-onds

To test Data Integrity, the Tariff Data is signed with a CRC16 function.A 16 bit CRC Check Sum is therefore calculated from the Tariff Data, and saved for a future reference. The only two sections that are out from the check sum are the unique vehicle and owner parameters, like: “k” constant and ticket heading.

When the checksum function is activated: a) Tariff Programming trough PC or Smart key: if the data buffer is corrupted, due to errors in data transmission, system errors or tampering, the CRC16 Check Sum will be different from that stored for comparison. b) At each Trip the Taximeter recalculate the Checksum of the Tariff and compares with the stored CS. reference; and in case of data corruption it auto locks the meter showing at any tentative of start a trip the message “Error Csum” so it can’ t work with a wrong tariff until reprogrammed. c) It is possible to recalculate the check sum manually, IE, by Inspectors in every moment but only when the meter is in FOR HIRE mode, by pressing together F2 + F5, to verify that the meter is programmed with the Right Tariff.

The CRC16 Check Sum is a number between 0 and 65535, and can be displayed on the Taximeter when wished.

The taximeter fi rmware is identifi ed by a version name and by a CRC16 checksum. The version name is composed by a 3 letters prefi x, indicating the fi rmware type and eventual country version, and by a 2 digits sequential number that indicates the version for that fi rmware type, for example “FOG15”.The CRC16 is calculated internally by the taximeter on the whole fi rmware fl ash area. If a corruption is detected, than the taximeter is blocked. The fi rmware version can be displayed on the taximeter by pressing at the same time K2+K3+K4 when in For Hire status. Firmware name is shown in the main display, and fi rmware CRC16 is on the secondary display.

The TariffGeneral Description

Here follows an example of an easy tariff that uses two Blocks to calculate two different tariff amounts.In the subscribed example there are two tariffs that differ for the initial drop value distance (Parameter n. 11). The Block 1 has been programmed with an Initial Drop Value distance of 1000, the Block 2 with a value distance of 2000. To pass from Block 1 to Block 2 must be pressed F2 button. To do it program the Parameter n. 13 of the Block n. 1 with a value of 2 (setting value of 2 means > go to Block 2 ). To go back to Block 1, set in Parameter n. 13 of Block 2 the value of 1.With this procedure it is possible to move from Block 1 to Block 2 and change the bander value by pressing F2 button.

- Power on the taximeter. By default all the parameters programmed in Block 0 get loaded in the Working Block.- Press F1 button to pass in Hired position. Now Block 1 gets loaded in the Working Block updating the changed parameters values (Parameter 11 = 0 > 11).

PS: The parameter 15 defi ne the start fare block. This is the block loaded when F1 button is pressed to pass from For Hire to Hired position.

The taximeter calculates the tariff thanks to the interaction of 429 programmable parameters.They work into a block. The X-One Android have 63 parameters blocks that can be programmed to gener-ate even the most complex tariff. Two blocks are very particular: Block 0 and the Working Block.

The Block 0 is the StartUp block that loads per default all the 429 parameters in the Working Block when the taximeter starts up. In a simple tariff calculation is suffi cient to use only the Block 0 to calculate the amount.

The “Working Block” (not visible by the user) is the opera-tive block that makes the fi nal tariff calculation.In a simple tariff, it is getting charged by Block 0 with his 429 default programmed parameters. It calculates the fi nal amount.

To calculate a more complex tariff it is nec-essary to use, in addition to Block 0 , other programmed blocks of parameters. Their content replace, at the programmed event (Prog.Date, Key press F1, F2, F3 etc.),the relevant parameters of the Working Block.Every new modifi ed parameter value in a Block will replace the old one in the Working Block updating the tariff.

The TariffHow to Manually Program the TariffWith this procedure it’s intended to explain in detail the F1’s Tariff Programming. It is possible to use up to 429 parameters to program a tariff. These parameters are located into a single memory Block. The blocks available in the taximeter are 63 and each one has its set of 429 programmable parameters. Program a tariff in the X-One Android taximeter is like to fi ll a chart made of 63 columns (63 Blocks) and 429 lines ( Parameters). For a simple tariff is suffi cient a single Block to compute the fi nal amount. For a complex tariff the user must program other parameters in more blocks to generate complex fi nal amounts. Their content replace, at the programmed event (Prog.Date, Key press, etc..) the relevant parameters of the Working Block. Every new modifi ed parameter value in a Block will replace the old one in the Working Block updating the tariff. Note that only the changed parameters going to substitute the old ones, the unchanged parameters value remain active. The taximeter’s internal software read the blocks in chain and com-pute them in a so called “Working Block”: this is the one that makes the fi nal amount calculation. The blocks chain starts with the Block 0 (It’s the fi rst Block that the taximeter loads when it’s being started up) and ends with the Block 62.

For a simple tariff, that use at least only the Block 0, the taximeter behavior is as follow: Starts up (Block 0 loads its content of 429 parameters value in the Working Block) > Pressing F1 it passes from For Hire to Hired state ( The programmed parameters now are active to generate the tariff ) > Trip ended, stF1 the taximeter

Tariff Show

The Tariff Show is a viewer function included in the “SelfFunction Menu”. So it must be included in the settings of the tariff programmed.

The Tariff Show allows to view the 7 most important metrological values programmed in up to 8 blocks of the tariff (t1, t2, t3, t4, t5, t6, t7, and t8).

Depending on the country that taximeter will be used, the values showed for distance will be expressed in the local distance measurement system. And the values showed for prices will be, of course, in the local currency.

These 7 values are shown in the following parameters (in order of appearance) for each programmed Block, the

procedure is showed in the following page (33):

The “ProgDate”

“Progdate” is a kind of taximeter programming based on time events. This means that is possible to defi ne a period of time during which a particular action is performed by the taximeter. The X-ONE Android taximeter can be programmed with up to 50 Progdate records, every one with different activation times or action to be performed.

The activation date of every record can be one of the following:• from a start date to an end date• a specifi c date of every year• a specifi c day of every month• some specifi c days of every week

It is also possible to specify a time period during the activation days, defi ned by a start time and an end time (for example from 12.00 to 15.00 to identify the peak hour).

When the Progdate is activated, a programmed action is performed by the meter. Some are pre-defi ned, with fi xed meaning, some other are referred to the X-ONE Android programming questions. These are the possible actions codes, with their meaning:

Fixed Cross-speed: the calculation of the cost of a fare is either based on time or based on distance.

Below a certain velocity it is convenient to calculate the cost based on time (and not on distance). Above that velocity however it is convenient to calculate the cost based on distance (and not on time). This velocity is the so called cross-speed. At this velocity the calculated cost is the same for both time and distance. The velocity is given in Km/h with an accuracy of 1 Km/h. The allowed value goes from 0 (min) to 255 (max).

A fi xed cross-speed can be obtained by programming a value between 1 and 255 (Km/h). The value 0 is a special case (default). If 0 is programmed then the cross-speed is calculated automatically based on Q.2/3/4 and Q.5/6/7.

Sample Applications

The X-One Android is supplied with several applications developed by Digitax. Some of them are system applications that perform several tasks necessary to get the full hardwarefunctionalities, some other are sample applications used to demonstrate the internal hardware.

All of them have been developed using some custom library useful for interfacing digital I/O, serial ports, AITP functionalities and the other internal hardware. Those library is part of the Software Development Kit provided with the X-One Android, and the source code of those applications is available as example for the developers.

AITP Control Panel Application and AITP Features

This application is made as a ”control panel” to interface the AITP processor. It allows to view and edit current setup, or to monitor all activities that are under control of the AITP.Is useful both as a system application and as a sample application for developers, because it completely uses the system library interface modules provided by Digitax to simplify the ap-plication development.

Version Info and Hardware IDThis panel simply shows the hardware and software version of the AITP. It also shows the Hardware ID of the device, that is a guaranteed unique ID of the device board. It can be read from the AITP using the AITP libraries.

EESetup – AITP confi gurationThe AITP confi guration is saved internally in the microprocessor, but can be exported to a setup fi le. This fi le is called “EESetup.ait”.From this panel you can export and save AITP confi guration to the EESetup fi le, or do the reverse, loading an external EESetup fi le into the AITP microprocessor.You can use the AITP Control Panel application to view and edit the confi guration that is in-side the AITP, and when the confi guration is completed you can export it to the EESetup fi le. After that, to copy and activate the exported confi guration to another X-One Android device, is necessary simply to copy the setup fi le in the “\Hard Disk\SysApps\BOX” folder of the target X-One Android device, and restart it.

Travelled distance can be either read, or read & reset by DLL functions. This can be done either by polling or activating a trigger so that is the AITP that periodically sends odometer info to the customer application, using the AITP libraries.

ShutdownShutdown sequence is very important for a reliable behavior of the system when in operation. AITP manages the shutdown sequence, signaling to the applications that the device is about to be pow-ered off.The customer application should read this signal (the “IPRESHUT” digital input), and when is High it should prepare to power off, closing all opened fi les and terminating every disk activity. If connected to its central station, it can send a logout message.

Shutdown time is by default 10 seconds, but can be increased from AITP setup.When the shutdown time is elapsed, the AITP powers off the modem and all devices, it waits for disk activity to stop, and fi nally powers off the device.

Shutdown sequence can be started by AITP (power button, engine…) or by the user applica-tion, sending the AITP shutdown or restart with the AITP DLL.

Engine InputThe engine input (also called ignition input) can be used to trigger X-One Android device startup and/or shutdown. The engine digital input of the device has to be connected to the ignition key, and the AITP setup must be modifi ed to manage this input.Usually the system shutdown is managed by the user application, not directly by the AITP. The application can read the AITP digital inputs status, and when the engine is OFF it can decide to shutdown, following its own logic and having all the time to perform a proper logout and disconnection sequence before issuing the shutdown command to the AITP.

AlarmAlarm mode must be enable by setup, and Alarm status is set by the AITP when it detects the Panic/Alarm Input low for some time. The customer application can read the Alarm status, and can do what is required to manage the alarm. At the end is the customer application that has to clear the alarm with a specifi c command of the AITP DLL.The application can also set the alarm, not only clear it.

It’s possible to setup the AITP so to disable device power off if is in alarm, and if the panic but-ton is pressed when the device is off, than is possible to setup the AITP to turn it on, eventually in Stealth mode.

On / OffIn this panel is possible to setup the options related to the power button. It is also possible to enable button K6 to turn the X-One Android ON. If is desired also to use it to turn the X-One Android off, than is possible to manage it better from the application, read-ing button pressure and issuing the shutdown command from it, following application’s logic and all the available information.
