SECTION I
INTRODUCTION
1. ScopeThis manual lists repair parts and special toolsrequired for performance of organizational, directsupport, and general support maintenance of theAN/GSA-7.
2. GeneralThis Repair Parts and Special Tools List isdivided into the following sections:
a. Section II. Repair Parts List. A list of repairparts authorized for use in the performance ofmaintenance. The list also includes parts whichmus t be removed fo r r ep lacement o f theauthorized parts. Parts lists are composed offunctional groups in ascending numericalsequence, with the parts in each group, listed infigure and item number sequence. Bulk materialsare listed at end of Section II.
b. Sect ion III . Special Tools Lis t . N o t a p -plicable.
c. Section IV. National Stock Number and PartNumber Index. A list, in ascending National itemidentification number (NIIN, last 9 digits)sequence, of all National stock numbers appearingin the listings, followed by a list, in alphamericsequence, of all part numbers appearing in thelistings. National stock number and part numbersare cross-referenced to each illustration figure anditem number appearance.
3. Explanation of ColumnsThe following provides an explanation of columnsfound in the tabular listings:
a. I l lustrat ion. This column is divided asfollows:
(1)numbershown.
(2)identify
Figure number. Indicates the f igureof the illustration in which the item is
I t e m n u m b e r . T h e n u m b e r u s e d t oeach item called out in the illustration.
b. Source, Maintenance, and Recoverabi l i tyCodes (SMR).
(1) Source code. Source codes are assignedto support items to indicate the manner ofacquiring support items for maintenance, repair,or overhaul of end items. Source codes are enteredin the first and second positions of the UniformSMR Code format as follows:Code DefinitionPA – Item procured and stocked for anticipated orknown usage.
Code Definition
XD – A support item that is not stocked. Whenrequired, item will be procured through normalsupply channels.
NOTECannibalization or salvage may be used asa source of supply for any items sourcecoded above except those coded XA, XD,and aircraft support items as restricted byAR 700-42.(2) Maintenance code. Maintenance codes are
assigned to indicate the levels of maintenanceauthorized to USE and REPAIR support items.The maintenance codes are entered in the thirdand fourth positions of the Uniform SMR Codeformat as follows:
(a) The maintenance code entered in thethird position will indicate the lower maintenancelevel authorized to remove, replace, and use thesupport item. The maintenance code entered inthe third position will indicate one of thefollowing levels of maintenance:
code Application/Explanation
O-Support item is removed, replaced, used atthe organizational level.
F-Support item is removed, replaced, used atthe direct support level.(b) The maintenance code entered in the
fourth position indicates whether the item is to berepaired and identifies the lowest maintenancelevel with the capability to perform completerepair (i.e., all authorized maintenance functions).This position will contain one of the followingmaintenance codes:
code Application/Explanation
F-The lowest maintenance level capable ofcomplete repair of the support item is thedirect support level.
D-The lowest maintenance level capable ofcomplete repair of the support item is thedepot level.
Z-Nonreparable. No repair is authorized.(3) Recoverability code. Recoverability codes
are assigned to support items to indicate thedisposition action on unserviceable items. Therecoverability code is entered in the fifth positionof the Uniform SMR Code format as follows:

Z- Nonreparable item. When unserviceable,condemn and dispose at the level indicatedin position 3.
F- Reparab le i t em. When uneconomicallyreparable, condemn and dispose at thedirect support level.
c. Nat iona l S tock Number . I n d i c a t e s t h eNational stock number assigned to the item andwill be used for requisitioning purposes.
d. Part Number. Indicates the primary numberused by the manufacturer (individual, company,firm, corporation, or Government activity), whichcontrols the design and characteristics of the itemby means of its engineering drawings,specifications standards, and inspectionrequirements, to identify an item or range ofitems.
NOTEW h e n a s t o c k n u m b e r e d i t e m i srequisitioned, the repair part received mayhave a different part number than the partbeing replaced.
e. Federa l Supp l y Code f o r Manu fac tu re r(FSCM). The FSCM is a 5-digit numeric codelisted in SB 708-42 which is used to identify themanufacturer, distributor, or Government agency,etc.
f. Description. Indicates the Federal item nameand, if required, a minimum description to.identify the item.
g. Unit of Measure (U/M). Indicates thestandard of the basic quantity of the listed itemas used in performing the actual maintenancefunction. This measure is expressed by a two-character alphabetical abbreviation (e.g., ea, in,pr, etc.). When the unit of measure differs fromthe unit of issue, the lowest unit of issue that willsatisfy the required units of measure will berequisitioned.
h. Quantity Incorporated in Unit. Indicates the
quantity of the item used in the breakout shownon the illustration figure, which is prepared for afunctional group, subfunctional group, or anassembly.
4. Special InformationThe fol lowing publicat ions pertain to theAN/GSA-7 and its components:TM 11-5135-15, Radio Set Control AN/GSA-7TM 11-5805-295-14P, Mountings MT-791/U andMT-791A/U
5. How to Locate Repair Partsa. When National stock number or part number
is unknown.(1) First . Using the table of contents ,
determine the functional group within which therepair part belongs. This is necessary sinceillustrations are prepared for functional groupsand listings are divided into the same groups.
(2) Second. Find the illustration covering thefunctional group to which the repair part belongs.
(3) Third. Identify the repair part on theillustration and note the illustration figure and itemnumber of the repair part.
(4) Fourth. Using the Repair Parts Listing,find the figure and item number noted on theillustration.
b. When National stock number or part numberis known.
(1) First. Using the Index of National StockNumbers and Part Numbers, find the pertinentNational stock number or part number. The indexis in ascending NIIN sequence followed by a listof part numbers in ascending alphamericsequence, cross-referenced to the illustration figurenumber and item number.
(2) Second. After finding the figure and itemnumber, locate the figure and item number in therepair parts list.
