MetersMetering has become a crucial part of energy monitoring and billing for both commercial and domestic customers.

This has resulted in an increase in legislation such as the MID (Measuring Instrument Directive) standard, product approvals and types. The JET range of meters encompasses these changes to offer high quality and up to date solutions for every application.

The MID standard is an umbrella approval for all meters and is a requirement for all billing meters. The water meters have the MID R80 standard and the heat meters have various MID approvals, including Class 2 for the ultrasonic range which are ideal for RHI (Renewable Heat Initiative) applications. WRAS Approval up to 85°C applies to the range of water meters further demonstrating the quality of the products.

The Heat Network (Metering and Billing) Regulations 2014 state that any heat supplier into a building that is either a District Heating Scheme or Communal Heating where heat was provided as part of a service charge must now all be metered for the end user and charged accordingly.

Part L of the building regulations also requires metering, so it is important to choose carefully and install the appropriate products to ensure that the building is managed properly and in accordance with good practice.

There are numerous product communication options available, such as pulsed output, M-bus, wireless etc. to suit all requirements, whether a one off or a large complex infrastructure.

There are many solutions to metering that we can offer, whether for water, heating, gas or industrial processing with ultrasonic or magflow products.

Heat Meters

The JET range of ultrasonic MID Class 2 meters range from Dn15 to Dn100 (up to Dn200 available) and are available with either pulsed, mbus or wireless output. These are ideal for long term, durable applications which require a high degree of consistent accuracy. There are no moving parts ensuring longevity in addition to maintaining the highly accurate wide flow range of 100:1 from minimum to maximum flow rates.

Both the ultrasonic flow sensor and the calculator are supplied together as an integral unit, complete with temperature sensors. The normal method of operation is by battery with the option of mains power. These meters can be fitted vertically or horizontally without compromising performance.

Renewable heat applications normally use heat meters. For the Renewable Heat Initiative (RHI) the preferred type is the MID Class 2 ultrasonic meters. The JET range of high quality Class 2 ultrasonic meters are ideal for domestic, commercial and RHI schemes.

The JET range of heat meters have all the necessary approvals. These include MID (Measuring Instrument Directive) 2004/22/EC, CEN EN 1434 (2007) and OIML R5 (2002). This also ensures accuracy, durability and that legal billing standards are met.

A full range of interfaces are available to integrate the meters into any design of heat metering application from a single source.

Heat Meters Packs

Heat Meters are generally used in applications such as central boiler services fitted to large buildings, or in District Heating schemes . Submetering is also a common application.

Chilled water meters are typically used on air conditioning systems (note that temperature pockets are reversed for this application).

MID Approvals (Measuring Instrument Directive) enables manufacturers to obtain a single approvals certificate valid throughout Europe EN1434-6:1997 standard for heat meters, installation, commissioning, operational monitoring and maintenance.

All of our heating and chilled water meters include BMS pulsed output (MBUS is also an option)
