As the real estate world expands with more internet sites our team appreciates how much smarter and more knowledgeable our clients have become as a result of all the new information out there today. Big data has brought transparency to many industries and real estate is no exception. More often our clients with no real estate experience are now pulling their own comps and asking great questions. Our clients are getting smarter and we appreciate this new level of partnership when buying and selling a home. It not only makes it more fun, it keeps us on our toes.

Enjoy the issue!Jay

Reins of Life has been providing therapeutic horseback riding for children and young adults with special needs since October 1993 in Chester County,

PA. We are a nonprofit corporation, and reside in Landenberg, PA on a horse farm owned by Judy and John Hendrickson. Our horse farm borders 3 states, PA, MD, and DE all within 15 minutes of each other.

Reins of Life evolved from a personal experience as a volunteer in a similar program 25 years ago. When I saw the special riders upon their horses, my heart was touched so viscerally that I was meant to start my very own program.

Reins of Life operates Mon., Wed., Thur. and Sat., with after school hours during the week at 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30 and on Saturday’s from 9:00-3:00. Reins of Life is volunteer driven. We are seeking lots of volunteers from the community to work with our program in many capacities, in particular with our therapeutic riding program to assist the children and help with the horses, on these particular days. Volunteers can volunteer once a week or more if desired for 2-4 hours, or more and should call our office or see our web site for additional information.

Reins of life Therapeutic horseback riding helping children and young adults with special needs.

We are in the midst of an “open enrollment” and have room for many more special riders due to expansion of our staff. Of particular interest is a program we offer called “sibling siding”. This very popular program allows for a special needs rider to have a sibling ride in the Reins of Life program with them whether or not the sibling has special challenges. Last year we had 7 families within the sibling riding program. No other similar organization is offering this particular program.

Of extra special note, is our capital campaign to build a handicapped accessible bathroom for Reins of Life, by adding an addition on the existing barn to house this restroom, plus a much needed wash stall for the horses. We are in great need of funding to cover the $70,000 cost of this special project and therefore donations are greatly appreciated.

Allow Pike Creek Mortgage to advance your homeownership

goal to reality by obtaining the proper financing.

5 Simple home security solutionsHere are some simple ways to increase your home security:

1. Dog barking. A dog is one of the best burglar deterrents out there. It’s also a great investment in other ways — your barking machine sits

around the house making noise or even looking scary while providing you with an endless

amount of love. From the outside, no one needs to know that your bark alarm wouldn’t hurt a fly.

2. Deadbolt. Most people think of home security improvement projects as hours-long affairs. But improving the locks on your doors is quicker than you might think. Just grab a few tools and a deadbolt to install.

3. Plants. Really. Plants!If you’ve got a green thumb,

cultivate some lovely rose bushes. If you’re in a warmer climate, explore different kinds

of citrus. If thorns aren’t really an option for

your children or pets, you might also try simple window boxes. Would-be-burglars like to look through your windows to see if your stuff is worth the trouble — if they can’t see in, they’re less likely to choose your house. Plus, awesome landscaping will make sure your house looks great on the outside, too.

4. Motion Sensor Lights.Motion sensor lights are easy to install. You can have one up in less time than it takes to say “I did it myself” and you can make sure you’re treading lightly on the planet by using solar power. No matter what, shedding light on the subject makes it hard for strangers to break in. And your neighbors

can see your property, they’ll likely notice if someone unusual is trying to pry their way in.

5. Easy-to-Install Attractive Home Security Systems.Today there’s a whole contingent

of wireless, DIY security systems out there that provide all the home

protection with without all the mess of complicated installation. We’ve also heard just having a se-curity sign by the front and back doors works as well.
