AWIM Offers ALL Students Experiences to Become Scientifically-Literate Members of the Community.
To succeed in the society of tomorrow, all children need an education that prepares them to understand and apply concepts in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in a real-world integrated setting.
In addition to becoming literate in these disciplines, students must also: • learn to solve complex problems• communicate clearly• raise & resolve questions/problems• assimilate information• work cooperatively toward common goals

Role of a STEM Volunteer
Serve as a “Content Expert” for the Teacher No need to be a nuclear physicist – you’re helping with elementary/middle school concepts.
Provide a “Face” for Science & Technology Students are seldom aware of science and technology careers. AWIM STEM Volunteers provide this connection to your chosen profession by simply sharing what you do at work and applying it to the AWIM student experience (it’s easy and the kids love it!).
Interact with Teachers & Students in the Classroom All levels of time commitment are appreciated.
