Translation

We closely follow all references, guidelines, terminology and instructions.

Translation & Proofreading

Team translation is always recommended for public-facing projects, with an extra proofreading layer for all highly specialised content. An independent linguist, with the appropriate expertise, will check for linguistic accuracy, grammar, orthography, terminology, style and tone, as well as the text’s general fi tness for purpose.

Translation, Edit, Proofreading

Recommended for high visibility, brand sensitive and marketing content. Our profession-al linguists ensure high quality translation, adapting the source language appropriate for the intended target audience. A second subject matter expert refi nes the translated text, adhering to brand style and client preferred terminology to read as if originally written in the target language. A third native speaker with knowledge of Client Style Guide and Glossary performs a thorough proofreading, establishing the client’s brand voice in the localised content.


Monolingual Review

Review for message clarity and ease of reading.Translated content is read as a standalone entity, without referencing original source material. This service can be useful for content translated in-house by non-native speakers and/or native speakers with no linguistic background.

In-Context Review

A fi nal linguistic check, depending on the project and client requirements. Additional linguistic checks can be agreed upon, ranging from basic consistency checks to quality checks (LQA).

Post Editing of Machine Translation

Review of machine-translated content, with/without source reference, by a professional linguist. This service is only suitable for short texts, with simple, generic subject matter. The main objective is to ensure the content is clear, understandable and accurately communicates the same meaning as the source text. Checks are not made against stylistic guidelines.

Multimedia Localisation Services

A full range of multimedia localisation services are available to meet your specifi c needs. Our end-to-end service portfolio includes: evaluation/estimation, translation, typesetting, complete audio production, transcription, script creation, dubbing, synching, subtitling, closed caption, and full post-production services. Welcome to thebigword’s translation and localisation services. This section is intended to guide you through the set-up and registration process so that you can begin requesting translations.

Submitting Your Enquiry

To start off the enquiry process, kindly submit an email to the following email address including your contact details and a description of the services you require: [email protected]

Following the receipt of your enquiry a member of our Sales & Operations teams will contact you to discuss your requirements and confi rm your company contact details.

TMS Gateway

A registration link will be sent to your designated email address inviting you to visit our Translation Management System and begin setting up your user profi le (see TMS User Guide and Video demonstration for further details). A member of our team will be on hand to support you during the set-up should you have any queries.

Once your profi le has been set up you can request a quotation from thebigword for the services your require:

• Upload your source fi les and any accompanying reference material for the linguists• Select the services you require (for example translation, translation + proofreading)• Enter your desired delivery date• Specify any preferred instructions to be observed during the translation process

thebigword will return to you within 24 hours with a full quotation to complete your translation.

Proceeding with Your Order - Client Information Form

Should you wish to proceed with the quotation our Accounts team will require you to complete a short company information form including your company and billing address. This will then be entered into our systems and you will be enabled to proceed with the order.

*To faciliate payment of thebigword’s translation services an invoice will be sent to you upon completion of each project. Our terms are 30 days and payment should be received by thebigword’s designated bank by the invoice due date to avoid any late payment and interest charges.
