Further Study
Romans 8:1-17These verses encourage us that we do not have to despair in our struggle with sin. What specifi c statements off er this hope? How does the Holy Spirit work in us and on our behalf?
Romans 8:18-27What do these verses tell us about suff ering? What words in this text highlight the consequences of the Fall? How is the Holy Spirit working on our behalf when we pray?
Romans 8:28-30What is the hope off ered in these verses? To whom is the promise directed? How does verse 29 describe the “good” mentioned in verse 28? Why is being “conformed to the image of His Son” so important? Why do we struggle to grasp the importance of what it means to be like Jesus Christ? According to verse 30, in what will Christlikeness ultimately result?
Romans 8:31-39What truth does verse 31 present? How is this truth expanded in verse 32? What specifi c instances are given in the following verses? In what specifi c areas are you facing trials? How do these verses encourage your heart? Will you take your specifi c situation to the Lord in prayer, knowing that the Holy Spirit and the Son also make intercession for you (vv. 26 & 31)?
