Trip Planning

Planning and recruitment began in the spring.

Meetings started in the fall after soccer and included 10 planning sessions. Initial meetings addressed Belizean culture and global health topics. Classes through the trip focused on Global Health concerns.

Exploring the Mayan CultureLamanai

Page 8: Taylor-Belize2013

To visit Lamanai, we had to take a 1 ½ hour boat ride down the New River before having lunch. Coming back was in a cold rain.

Page 9: Taylor-Belize2013

We met the monkey, a Toucan, and some amazing Parrots.

Comments from a Missionary

When we arrived at the compound, there was a team from Taylor University in Indiana here doing ministry. They are students studying physical therapy, sports training, and medical professions. So they came for 3 weeks to use the skills and knowledge they have learned thus far in a hands on way. But what was so great was to see them love the people here and really care not just about the physical needs but about them spiritually. When I wasn’t working hard handing out tools and getting Terry and the boys drinks of water, I was able to follow along on a few of the schools, an orphanage, and a mental handicap facility they went to and see them in action as they talked to the kids about how God had made them special. And I do want to confirm that college kids do like to stay up late..... and not get up early! (Believe in Belize Blog Spot, 2013)
