Description

Adapters of Tau-PCI-4E1 family are designed for

use in Intel-compatible computers with PCI bus for

directly connecting computers to E1 communication

links.

Tau-PCI-4E1 multiplexer has four data transmission

channels.

Tau-PCI-4E1 multiplexer implements HDLC

synchronous protocol. Data are transmitted over a

direct memory access channel in master mode that

ensures an effective usage of computer input/output

bus. Each HDLC controller could be connected to

one of E1 channels. All four HDLC controllers could

be connected to one E1 channel. HDLC controller

also could be switched off, which allows using

adapter for telephony.

Ìóëüòèïëåêñîð Tau-PCI-4E1 èìååò ÷åòûðå êà-íàëà ïåðåäà÷è äàííûõ.

 ìóëüòèïëåêñîðå Tau-PCI-4E1 ðåàëèçîâàíñèíõðîííûé ïðîòîêîë HDLC. Ïåðåäà÷à äàí-íûõ îñóùåñòâëÿåòñÿ ïî êàíàëó ïðÿìîãî äîñ-òóïà â ïàìÿòü â ìàñòåð-ðåæèìå, ÷òî îáåñïå-÷èâàåò ýôôåêòèâíîå èñïîëüçîâàíèå øèíûââîäà/âûâîäà êîìïüþòåðà. Êàæäûé êîíòðîë-ëåð HDLC ìîæåò áûòü ïîäêëþ÷åí ê îäíîìóèç E1 êàíàëîâ. Ê îäíîìó E1 êàíàëó âîçìîæíîïîäêëþ÷èòü âñå ÷åòûðå HDLC êîíòðîëëåðà.Òàêæå HDLC êîíòðîëëåð ìîæåò áûòü âûêëþ-÷åí, ÷òî ïîçâîëÿåò èñïîëüçîâàòü àäàïòåð äëÿòåëåôîíèè.

There are several models of the multiplexer:

• Tau-PCI-2E1 - two channels with E1 interface.

• Tau-PCI-4E1 - four channels with E1 interface.

Windows 2000 drivers. There is a Driver

Óñòàíîâêà àäàïòåðà

Ïðîâåðüòå, ÷òî èñòî÷íèê ïèòàíèÿ Âàøåãî êîì-

ïüþòåðà èìååò äîñòàòî÷íûé ðåçåðâ ìîù-

íîñòè äëÿ óñòàíîâêè äîïîëíèòåëüíîé ïëàòû.

• Óáåäèòåñü, ÷òî êîìïüþòåð âûêëþ÷åí!

• Ñíèìèòå êðûøêó ñèñòåìíîãî áëîêà, îïðå-

äåëèòå ñâîáîäíûé ñëîò PCI è äåìîíòèðóé-

òå îòíîñÿùóþñÿ ê íåìó çàãëóøêó íà òûëü-

íîé ñòîðîíå øàññè.

• Ïåðåä òåì êàê âñòàâèòü ìóëüòèïëåêñîð â

êîìïüþòåð, äëÿ êàæäîãî êàíàëà óñòàíîâè-

òå â íóæíîå ïîëîæåíèå ïåðåìû÷êè âûáî-

ðà òèïà ëèíèè E1 (ñì. ðèñóíîê íà òèòóëü-

íîì ëèñòå).

• Âñòàâüòå ìóëüòèïëåêñîð â ðàçúåì äî óïîðà

è çàêðåïèòå åãî âèíòîì ê òûëüíîé ñòîðî-

íå øàññè.

• Óñòàíîâèòå íà ìåñòî êðûøêó ñèñòåìíîãî

áëîêà.

• Ïðèïàÿéòå ëèíèè E1 ê ðàçúåìó DB-15. Ñì.

ðàçäåë «Ïåðå÷åíü ñèãíàëîâ». Ïðè ïàéêå

ïîëüçóéòåñü ñóõèì ôëþñîì, ÷òîáû íå äî-

ïóñòèòü çàãðÿçíåíèÿ êîíòàêòîâ.

• Ïîäêëþ÷èòå êîììóíèêàöèîííîå îáîðóäî-

âàíèå, èñïîëüçóÿ ñîîòâåòñòâóþùèå êàáå-

ëè (â êîìïëåêò ïîñòàâêè íå âõîäÿò).

Adapter Installation

Check if the power source of your PC has enough

power reserve for installing an additional card.

• Make sure that your PC is turned off!

• Remove the cover from your system unit, locate

an empty PCI slot, and demount the related stub

on the backside of the chassis.

• Before inserting the multiplexer into your PC set

jumpers of E1 line type selection for each channel

as required (see figure on title page).

• Insert the multiplexer into the slot up to the stop

and secure it to the backside of the chassis with

a screw.

• Replace the cover of your system unit.

• Solder E1 lines to DB-15 connector. See section

«List of Signals». Use dry flux when soldering

for not to soil pins.

• Connect your communication equipment using

appropriate cables (not supplied).

òî÷íèêîâ. Åñëè Âû èñïîëüçóåòå äëèííûå ëè-

íèè, âûõîäÿùèå çà ïðåäåëû îäíîãî çäàíèÿ,

ðåêîìåíäóåòñÿ ïðèìåíÿòü ñïåöèàëüíûå óñò-

ðîéñòâà çàùèòû (Communication Line Surge

Suppressors), êîòîðûå äîëæíû ðàñïîëàãàòüñÿ

â íåïîñðåäñòâåííîé áëèçîñòè ê êîìïüþòåðó.

Äëÿ çàùèòû ëèíèé Å1 ïîäõîäÿò óñòðîéñòâà ñ

íîìèíàëüíûì íàïðÿæåíèåì ïðîáîÿ ïîðÿäêà

7.5 V è äîïóñòèìûì èìïóëüñíûì òîêîì 200A,

E1 Line Protection

Communication lines can be subject to pulse

interference from electrostatic and lightning

discharges, or other sources. If you are utilizing long

lines extending beyond a single building it is advisable

to use special safety devices (Communication Line

Surge Suppressors) which should be located in close

vicinity to your PC.

Devices with rated break-down voltage of about

7.5V and allowable pulse current of 200A having

small self-capacitance will fit to protect E1 lines.

“Channel”, ñòðîêà “External Loopback”).

• Èç ìåíþ “Setup” ìîæíî èçìåíÿòü íàáîð

êàíàëüíûõ èíòåðâàëîâ, âèä òåñòîâûõ äàí-

íûõ è ïð. Ïîñðåäñòâîì ìåíþ “Channel”,

“Adapter” è “Test” ìîæíî ïðîèçâîäèòü òåñ-

òèðîâàíèå îòäåëüíîãî êàíàëà, âñåõ êàíà-

ëîâ îäíîãî àäàïòåðà èëè âñåõ àäàïòåðîâ

îäíîâðåìåííî.

Adapter Testing

• Boot your PC from the floppy disk labeled "Diag

(Boot)". After the boot DIAG utility will start

automatically to search for installed adapters.

• Choose "General Test" from "Test" menu. This

will check main communication circuits of the

adapter (bus test) and then start an internal test

of all channels. The test should find no errors

(several CRC errors are only allowable in the

beginning of the test because of the sync

adjustment).

• To check external signal circuits go to "Channel"

menu, select the necessary channel number

("Select Channel..." row), connect an external

contactor (supplied with the adapter) to the

connector of the channel so selected, and launch

an external loopback ("External Loopback"

row).

• If the connected communication equipment

supports the loopback mode you can use the

latter for cable testing as well as for

synchronization instead of the contactor. To do

that switch the external equipment to the

loopback mode and start an external loopback

of the channel ("Channel" menu, "External

Loopback" row).

• "Setup" menu is used to change sync mode,

speed, test data type, etc. "Channel", "Adapter",

and "Test" menus are used to test single channels,

all channels of the same adapter, or all adapters

simultaneously.

êàåòñÿ íåñêîëüêî îøèáîê CRC â íà÷àëå òå-

ñòà ïî ïðè÷èíå ïîäñòðîéêè ñèíõðîíèçà-

öèè).

• Äëÿ ïðîâåðêè âíåøíèõ ñèãíàëüíûõ öåïåé

ïåðåéäèòå â ìåíþ “Channel”, âûáåðèòå íå-

îáõîäèìûé íîìåð êàíàëà (ñòðîêà “Select

Channel...”), ïîäêëþ÷èòå ê ðàçúåìó âûáðàí-

Ïåðâàÿ äèñêåòà èç êîìïëåêòà ïîñòàâêè àäàï-

òåðà — çàãðóæàåìàÿ, ïðèìåíÿåòñÿ äëÿ òåñòè-

ðîâàíèÿ àäàïòåðà. Íà âòîðîé äèñêåòå íàõîäÿò-

ñÿ äðàéâåðà äëÿ Linux, FreeBSD è Windows

2000.

Ïåðåä óñòàíîâêîé ïðîãðàììíîãî îáåñïå÷åíèÿ

îáÿçàòåëüíî ïðî÷òèòå âñþ ïðèëàãàþùóþñÿ ê

íåìó äîêóìåíòàöèþ.

Software Installation

The first (bootable) floppy disk supplied with the

adapter is intended to test the adapter. The second

floppy disk contains drivers for Linux and FreeBSD.

Please, read all documentation supplied with

software before installation.

Installing Driver in Windows

2000

At first startup system will find new device and run

the «Found New Hardware Wizard». Press in first

dialog box «Next» button.

configuration» using this tab.

The "Channel" and "Link" tab allows to set parameters

for channel. The "Link" tab available for E1 adapters.

It allows to set parameter for E1 link (physical part).

On the other hand, the "Channel" tab allows to set

parameters for the logical part of channel. For other

types of adapters links are correspond to channel,

so there is only "Channel" tab for their parameters.

Íàæìèòå ïðàâóþ êíîïêó ìûøè íà èêîíêå "My

Network Places" íà ðàáî÷åì ñòîëå è âûáåðèòå

ïóíêò "Properties". Îòêðîåòñÿ îêíî "Network and

Dial-up Connections". Äëÿ ñîçäàíèÿ íîâîãî ñî-

åäèíåíèÿ äâàæäû ùåëêíèòå íà èêîíêå "Make

New Connection".

Making new Dial-Up connection

in Windows 2000

Making new Dial-Up connection using"Network and Dial-up Connections".

Press right mouse button under "My Network

Places" icon from your desktop and choose

"Properties" item. The "Network and Dial-up

Connections" window will be opened. Double-click

"Make New Connection" to make a new connection.

Choose interface for connection in the next dialog

window and press "Next" button.

Next dialog allows you to choose setting for

connection over usual phone line. These setting are

of no use for this kind of connection. Pass this window,

press "Next" button.

If RRAS is not configured, right click on your server

name and choose "Configure and Enable Routing and

Remote Access" item from the menu (you can do

the same from the "Action" menu). Configure RRAS,

according to your needs and start it.

Before making new connection you should make sure

that you have correct settings for adapter`s channels

in RRAS. Right click on "Ports" and choose

"Properties" from popup menu.

Åñëè RRAS íå çàïóùåí, íàæìèòå ïðàâîé

êíîïêîé ìûøè íà èìåíè âàøåãî ñåðâåðà è

âûáåðèòå ïóíêò "Configure and Enable Routing

Select adapter you need in just appeared window

and press "Configure" button.

The most important parameters are "Remote access

connections (inbound only)" and "Demand-dial

routing connections (inbound and outbound)". They

determine the type of connections available over

adapter`s channels. If none of these parameters are

checked, adapter`s channels will not available from

RRAS.

mtools). Äëÿ ðàñïàêîâêè èñïîëüçóéòå óòèëèòó

“tar”. Íàïðèìåð:

Installing Drivers in FreeBSD

and Linux OS

Drivers for Linux and FreeBSD are on the second

floppy disk. File readme.txt contains the full

list of the drivers. You can read files on the floppy

disk using "mread" utility (mtools package). Use "tar"

utility to unpack files. For example:

mread a:linx30.tgz .

tar xvzf linx30.rgz

After unpacking the necessary driver, follow the

installation instructions provided in readme.txt file (or

install.txt).

Configuring Channels in

FreeBSD OS

Use sconfig utility to set channel modes. Modes are

normally set at the start of the operational system

(e.g. from /etc/rc file) and do not need to be changed

afterwards. For brief help on sconfig utility use the

following command:

sconfig help

The full description of sconfig utility is included in

software package supplied, see "man sconfig".

Configuring Channels in Linux

OS

After you have compiled and installed modules you

will also get installed batch file that loads modules

and configures channels at system start up. Since

various Linux clones are differ in start up procedure,

you may need to install this batch file manually and

probably modify it. While using this command file to

change configuration you just need to edit

/etc/cronyx.conf configuration file and restart

modules.

Use sconfig utility to set manually channel modes of

Tau-PCI adapter in Linux OS. Create a batch file

that sets channel modes at the start of the operational

system using examples provided in the distributive

package. For brief help on sconfig utility use the

following command:

sconfig help

Syntax of /etc/cronyx.conf configuration file is the

same as of sconfig parameters so documentation for

sconfig could help in understanding it.

Modes of operation

E1 Configurations

Tau-PCI-4E1 could be configured by the software

for thow modes of operation. These modes

interrelates physical and logical channels of adapter.

Configuration DUAL (A). E1 link 0, link 1, link2,

link3 operate independently. Each logical channel

could be attached to one of the physical links. Each

physical link could multiplex several logical channels.

Total number of logical channels is limited by numbers

of HDLC controllers and equals to four.

Configuration MUX (C). This mode differs from

DUAL(A) mode in that all links have the same source

of synchronization (internal or from one of E1

receiver). Also links 0-1 and links 2-3 combined into

pairs. Timeslots that are not used in logical channels

are passed through between physical channels in a

group.

Unframed Mode

In this mode E1 interface works without frame

structure, thus full 2048 Kbit/sec are available for

data transmission. Interface working in this mode

couldn't be used in multiplexing, cause there is no

framing structure.

Ìóëüòèïëåêñîð Tau-PCI-4E1 ìîæåò ðàáîòàòüâ äâóõ ðàçëè÷íûõ ðåæèìàõ. Ýòè ðåæèìû îï-ðåäåëÿþò âçàèìîñâÿçü ìåæäó ôèçè÷åñêèìè èëîãè÷åñêèìè êàíàëàìè àäàïòåðà.

Êîíôèãóðàöèÿ DUAL (A).  ýòîì ðåæèìåôèçè÷åñêèå êàíàëû íå ñâÿçàíû ìåæäó ñîáîé.Êàæäûé ëîãè÷åñêèé êàíàë ñâÿçàí ñ ëþáûìîäíèì ôèçè÷åñêèì êàíàëîì. Ôèçè÷åñêèé êà-íàë ìîæåò áûòü ñâÿçàí ñ íåñêîëüêèìè ëîãè-÷åñêèìè, ÷òî ïîçâîëÿåò ðàçáèðàòü ïîòîê E1 íàíåñêîëüêî ëîãè÷åñêèõ ïîòîêîâ. Ñóììàðíîå êî-ëè÷åñòâî ëîãè÷åñêèõ ïîòîêîâ îãðàíè÷èâàåò-ñÿ êîëè÷åñòâîì HDLC êîíòðîëëåðîâ è ðàâíî÷åòûðåì.  ýòîì ðåæèìå àäàïòåð ìîæíî ðàñ-ñìàòðèâàòü êàê íåñêîëüêî íåçàâèñèìûõ ìóëü-òèïëåêñîðîâ.

Êîíôèãóðàöèÿ MUX (C). Ýòîò ðåæèì àäàï-òåðà îòëè÷àåòñÿ îò ðåæèìà DUAL(A) òåì, ÷òîäëÿ âñåõ ÷åòûðåõ ôèçè÷åñêèõ êàíàëîâ çàäàåò-ñÿ åäèíûé èñòî÷íèê ñèíõðîíèçàöèè (âíóòðåí-íèé èëè îò ïðèåìíîãî òðàêòà îäíîãî èç êàíà-ëîâ). Êðîìå òîãî, ôèçè÷åñêèå êàíàëû îáúåäè-íÿþòñÿ â ïàðû 0-1 è 2-3. Íåçàíÿòûå êàíàëü-íûå èíòåðâàëû òðàíñëèðóþòñÿ ìåæäó ôèçè-÷åñêèìè êàíàëàìè â ãðóïïå.

Ðåæèì Unframed

Ýòîò ðåæèì ïîçâîëÿåò îòêëþ÷èòü öèêëîâóþñòðóêòóðó íà èíòåðôåéñå E1. Ïðè ýòîì, ïîëî-ñà â 2048 êáèò/ñåê ñòàíîâèòüñÿ ïîëíîñòüþ äî-ñòóïíîé äëÿ ïåðåäà÷è äàííûõ. Èíòåðôåéñ, ðà-áîòàþùèé â ýòîì ðåæèìå, áîëåå íå ìîæåò ðàç-áèðàòüñÿ íà ÷àñòè, òàê êàê îòñóòñòâóåò öèêëî-âàÿ ñòðóêòóðà.
