Billboard magazine has been around since 1894. Billboard has become the primary source of information on trends and innovation in music, serving music fans, artists, top executives, tour promoters, publishers and many more. Billboard.com was first launched in 1995 as Billboard Online and it Billboard.com also features an extensive array of music involved in the harts, music news, videos and more. Billboard is owned by Prometheus Global Media who have a range of leading assets in the media and entertainment arenas. The company’s CEO is Richard D. Beckman has been the former publisher for GQ and Vogue. Prometheus is based in New York City.

Billboard’s publishers may be a good publisher for my final magazine because Billboard has become very successful and specialises in chart music. As my music magazine will be based around mainstream pop and will contain information about the music charts, Billboard is a good example to look at for information and ideas.

However, other publishers like Bauer or IPC may also be good publishers for my final music magazine. Bauer has publishes Kerrang, MOJO and Q magazine, all of which are very successful music magazines. Bauer has experience publishing for different genres of music magazines whereas Prometheus have Billboard as their only music magazine.

IPC may also be a good publisher for my final music magazine because they have published NME which is a very successful music magazine. Although, like Bauer, they only publish one music magazine so unlike Prometheus they don’t have the experience of publishing a range of music magazines.
