A WORD FROM THE PASTOR... UPCOMING DATES FOR KIDS
Hello Church! I hope you’re having a wonderful Summer week and are look-
ing to forward to our time together this Sunday!
AW Tozer wrote “Complacency is easy…and it is a deadly foe of spiritual
growth.”
It’s easy for us as believers to get to a place in our spiritual walk where we’re
content with our sanctification progress. And when that happens, our desire to
spend time in the Word and time in prayer will likely subside. And before we
know it, our complacency will actually become a barrier to intimacy with our
Lord. It’s truly a situation where if you aren’t moving forwards, you’re mov-
ing backwards.
Don’t give in to complacency. Continue to seek growth in your walk and
understand that it won’t just happen. You must take the time and make the
effort to read and study and pray and listen. If those things are priorities in
your life, the deadly foe of complacency will stay far from you.
Our text this Sunday morning is 1 Corinthians 11:2-16…so read up, and I’ll
see you Sunday!
Love y’all, Bro. Chris

Josey Rhone is serving in Little Rock at Geyer
Springs Baptist Church as a youth intern. Cards
from home would bless her dearly and some
snacks she loves: pret-
zels, hazelnut coffee,
peanut butter M&Ms,
and Reese’s Pieces.
Christy Hart will be serving as a
missionary in East Asia with college students. Due to the
secure nature of the work there, we will be unable to send
letters to her. Please be in prayer for her over the next 8
weeks as she serves cross culturally.

During my years of schooling, there is no passage that I have read and
studied more than Isaiah 6. It is a great passage on worship and I encour-
age you to take a few moments and read it again. Isaiah had gone through
a very difficult time with the loss of his friend, King Uzziah. Grief, along
with other issues, brings about a crisis of belief in our lives and it did in
Isaiah. So how did he handle the crisis? He put his focus on the Lord (see
Psalm 121) and his problems got smaller as God’s greatness begin to fill
his heart and mind. It was at that point, that Isaiah saw God as He truly
is—a holy God without sin causing Isaiah to see his own sin he was filled
with humility. He repented and God cleansed Isaiah from his sin but no-
tice what was Isaiah’s next response, (and I believe it is always the re-
sponse of God’s people when they truly worship God) he said “send me.”
In that moment, worship and evangelism collided in Isaiah’s life. Loving
God means surrendering to God and allowing God to send us (and use us)
It’s the heart of the book of James—I will show you my love for God by
my works. John goes as far as to say that if we don’t love others (and
evangelism is how we love a lost world), we don’t even know God. Wow,
that seems a little harsh but it’s still true.
My heart was stirred last Sunday night as I heard about mission trips from
both Haiti and Brazil. I look forward to going on a future mission trip to
Haiti and I hope you will consider it too. But we need to be “on mission”
as individuals and a church today — not sometime in the future. God still
has individuals that He wants me to share right here in our city — are my
eyes open? Am I saying, “God, send me?” Are you? As I have thought
this week about the correlation between worship and evangelism, I have
come to this point—evangelism is a great “thermometer” for my relation-
ship with Christ!
Let’s worship Him together this week and follow the example of Isaiah
and say, “God, send me! Use me!” That’s living a life of worship!
See you on Sunday, Randy!
THANK YOU
We want to thank our church family for the prayers, texts, cards
and the delicious food you provided during and after my surgery.
You are truly a blessing!

Dear Church Family,
Thank you so much for the way you have blessed me. Providing
me with stepping stones and beautiful flowers and shrubs was such
a surprise to see and oh how I have enjoyed them!
I must also say Thank you to all of our church family for support-
ing VBS this summer through giving your resources and time in
effort to minister to children. It is indeed a blessing to serve along-
side you.
