Every Student Reading, Engaged, Attending & Learning. Every Student Succeeding!

20 May 2020

Welcome to our final ‘limited class attendance’ newsletter.

As of Monday 25 May 2020, all students are to return to school for the provision of normal lessons.

The school would like to thank all of you for your dedication to the learning@home experience during the last 5 weeks.

Students will return to normal classes, however adult social distancing rules are still in place.

We still cannot conduct parade, sports carnivals etc, or let groups of parents in the gate.

If you require access to a classroom you will need to contact the office and we will see what can be done.

Staff will man the front, bike and Kindy/Prep gates each day. Parents are encouraged to drop their students at the gates where staff will direct them to classrooms.

Please be assured that there is a rigid sanitising process in place at school and we are using food grade sanitiser to undertake this process.

As per yesterday’s email and if you haven’t replied to your daily contact person, it would be great if you could let us know if your children are returning to school.

If you wish to keep your child home you will need to contact me to discuss arrangements and so I can explain the school’s obligations to you.

Updated Guidelines for Parents

Access to school grounds

Effective immediately access to school grounds is limited to staff and students only. Please ring from

the front gate if you require face to face contact.

Social distancing – social distancing for adults at drop off and pick up points will be monitored. Social

distancing 1.5m markers are located at all drop off and pick up areas.

Kindergarten and Prep drop off and pick up will be at the gate at the front of the K/P classroom

(Edward Street) a teacher aide will meet you there with the sign in and out book.

Students will be provided with soap and water for handwashing and hand sanitiser in their class-

rooms. They will be prompted to use this at set times during the day e.g. washing hands before and

after lunch/ play.

If your child is unwell (no matter what the symptoms) they must stay home. Parents will be immedi-

ately contacted if there child is unwell and they will be asked to immediately collect them.

Classroom furniture and manipulatives will be sanitised at the end of each teaching session.

As students return to school, it is important that work completed at home be sent back as well. This work, that par-ents have supervised, will be very important to classroom teachers as they review it and make judgements regarding what needs to be revised or what needs extra attention.

Thank you for your continued hard work to support us during these challenging times.

School Priorities:

Our sign advertises that the school has a number of priorities that it strives to keep at the forefront t of your child’s education. These include literacy, numeracy and working memory. To achieve these priorities we have to work on the main factor that underpins learning in many arenas –READING.

Our main priority is READING!

Did you know that one of the best ways to expand a child’s vocabulary is through wide reading?

Younger children who are read to regularly have higher levels of vocabulary knowledge. (Snell, Hindman, & Wasik, 2015)

Older children who read regularly are exposed to words that they might not hear in every day speech. Beck, McKe-own, & Kucan, 2013)

QSchools Mobile App:

Do you want notifications regarding changes to school programs or upcoming events on your mobile phone?

Download a compatible app for your phone (suitable for Android, Apple or Windows 8) and log in to Tambo State School to accept our push notifications!

I have attached an instruction sheet for you to follow the process.

Tambo State School looks forward to you taking up this digital opportunity.

Parade:

Please note there will be no parade on Fridays due to the Covid 19 restrictions.

We will advise when parade will begin.

Hats:

The school has a No Hat No Play policy. Every student is to bring a green hat to school.

Some students have been running around with their hats in their hands and think that this is wearing a hat. These students have been reminded about the policy and may face exclusion from play areas if they continue to not wear their hats.
