Check in and bag weigh-in’s will be held at this location. Each team member’s back pack will be limited to 15 pounds maximum before they can check in and participate in the race.

*Please note that the 15 pound weight maximum includes food and water.

Required Equipment List: ● Tent/Temporary

Shelter● Compass● First Aid Kit● Food● Knife/hatchet● Backpack

● Flashlight/headlamp● Smartphone/GPS

Device● Water (Know your

needs; Know your limits)

● Clothes (It is recommended that you bring an additional change of clothing.)

Additional Equipment:Additional equipment is welcomed as long is your backpack remains under the 15 pound weight limit. Please remember that, as you progress through the course, you may (or may not) go after cache boxes, which will have additional supplies in them.

Certain items such as: medicine, allergy relief, anything to help with a disability or injury, etc., will be allowed. These items must be approved by the Mission-Uncharted team before the event. Reminders:1. While packing for this event, please remember that all participants will be required to

follow the “Leave No Trace” policy. The seven categories of “Leave No Trace” are:

● Plan Ahead and Prepare ● Travel and Camp on Durable

Surfaces● Dispose of Waste Properly

● Leave What You Find● Minimize Campfire Impacts● Respect Wildlife● Be Considerate of Others

2. Also, remember that this is a hiking/backpacking event and RUNNING IS NOT ALLOWED! Cheaters will disqualify their entire team from the race.

3. As your team progresses through the course and locates cache boxes, do not leave the boxes behind after taking the goods. There are incentives inside the boxes and we ask that you carry the boxes until you reach the next checkpoint where we will let you drop them off. You will not have to carry them for the duration of the entire race.

4. Always Remember that there is a chance of encountering wild animals during your hike. For recommendations on what to do if you encounter certain animals, please see: http://www.merrell.com/US/en/blog?url=%2F/merrell_us/tipsforanimalencounters/

5. Please use caution when crossing roads and water during this event.
