WHERE THE MONEY GOES

In 2015, Susan G. Komen® awarded $3.8 million in national research grants

Susan G. Komen® is the world’s largest breast cancer organization, funding more breast cancer

re-search than any other nonprofi t while providing real-time help to those facing the disease.

Komen was founded by Nancy G. Brinker, who promised her sister, Susan G. Komen, that she

would end the disease that claimed Suzy’s life. Komen NCTC is working to better the lives of

those facing breast cancer in the local community. Through events like the Komen Triangle Race

for the Cure®, the Komen Wilmington Race for the Cure® and the Finding Solutions Through

Science, Scholars and Survivors Luncheon, Komen NCTC has invested $14 million in community

breast health pro-grams in 29 counties in central and eastern North Carolina and has helped

contribute to the more than $800 million invested globally in research. For more information, call

919-493-2873 or visit komennctc.org. Connect with us on social media at komennctc.org/get-

SAME RACE, SAME MISSION, NEW PLACE

20TH ANNIVERSARY SUSAN G. KOMEN TRIANGLE RACE FOR THE CURE® - HOPE RISING TAKING THE NEXT STEPS FOR THE CURES

We are excited to Race for the Cure on a new

course in the heart of the Triangle! Construction

on Hillsborough Street means our 20th

anniversary Race will move to The Frontier in

Research Triangle Park. RTP is the home of

dreamers, believers, planners and creators. We

are thrilled to be a part of this community that

inspires bold new ideas as we celebrate our

past and embrace our future.

Our 20th anniversary celebration will feature an inspirational Survivor Celebration - where we

will honor those who have battled breast cancer and remember those who have lost their lives to

this disease.

The new out and back course will feature music and fun surprises. Our new Tailgate Zone will

give everyone a place to gather for pre-race meet-ups and after-race fun with an expanded Food

Truck Rodeo.

In celebration of our 20th anniversary and our new location, all four Triangle university leaders

are serving as honorary chairs of our Komen Triangle Race for the Cure:

President Richard Brodhead, Duke University

Chancellor Carol Folt, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Chancellor Debra Saunders-White, North Carolina Central University

Chancellor Randy Woodson, North Carolina State University
