Friday 18th December 2020 Dear Parents and Carers, We can’t quite believe we are finally at the end of the Autumn term. We would like to start by saying how proud we are of all of the children, with how well they have coped and adapted to school this term. They have really shown admirable levels of resilience and determination. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support, patience, kindness and understanding during what has been a difficult time for us all. We wish you all a happy and relaxing Christmas and a happy new year on behalf of all of the staff and governors. We would also like to personally thank the whole of our wonderful staff team - teachers, support staff, office staff, lunchtime supervisors, cleaners, kitchen staff and our amazing site manager - for the way they have all pulled together during challenging circumstances this term. None of us had any idea of the difficulties we would face and the team have worked tirelessly to ensure those at school and those self isolating received the best communication and support we could offer. Please look out for our staff Christmas video on Twitter later on today. We hope you enjoy it! Track and trace over Christmas Please inform us via the school email if any children test positive for COVID 19 from Friday 18th - Thursday 24th of December , as this will mean other children may have to isolate if their symptoms began before the 20th December. The email will be monitored by senior staff during this time. After this time the school email will not be monitored, but you can email us of any absences for when we return which will be picked up by the school office on January 4th. Please do not email class teachers directly over the holidays regarding COVID related matters as there is no obligation for teachers to check their emails during their holidays. You do not need to inform school if your child develops symptoms after the 21st of December, please get your child tested and follow the advice of track and trace. • families of Burnopfield. Their smiles in this photo show how happy they were to receive all of your donations! Thank you all once again.   Geordie Panto Co For the last few years we have visited the pantomime at Gateshead Stadium which is run by the Geordie Panto Co. They announced last week that people will be able to live stream their fabulous classic pantomimes of Cinderella and Aladdin for free.  Cinderella is on Christmas Eve at 11am and 4pm  Aladdin is on Boxing Day at 11am and 2pm.

Winter photography competition winners! Thank you to those of you who submitted entries for our Winter photography competition. The standard was very high and it was so difficult to judge that we had to ask Mrs Scott our Chair of Governors to be involved. After much deliberation, we are pleased to announce that Leo Abebe and Amelia Riby are our worthy winners with their fantastic Winter photos; Amelia’s of a very Christmassy looking Civic Centre in Newcastle and Leo’s of a beautiful frosty morning. They will both receive a 2021 calendar of Mr Gray’s photography taken in and around the North East!   Free French  Christmas Zoom Party Sarah from Kidslingo is running a free Christmas French party via Zoom next Tuesday and it would be a great way if anyone wants to try out the French classes but isn’t sure. Anyone interested would need to contact her to book on to it so she can send out the link. [email protected]
