Mass Intentions We remind parishioners that we are presently in the process of reviewing Archdiocesan permission to have multiple mass intentions at specific masses. For this reason we are not taking intentions for Sun-day masses in English until we receive such permis-sions. Given that there is only one mass a week in Italian and one in Spanish, it is very likely that we will receive permission to receive multiple inten-tions for those two masses. However, it is very un-likely that we will receive permission for intentions at Sunday masses in English due to the availability of masses during the week. We are hoping to have permission to accept multiple intentions on Wednes-day evening masses. Until that happens, we advise everyone that this is a norm that must be observed and we all have to adapt to. More information will be available upon reception of the response of the Archdiocese.

Capital Campaign Next Sunday Oct. 5th, we have a second collection for the capital campaign and we ask that the parish-ioners of St. Jude help as much as they can to keep caring for our Church Building. We encourage those who did not make a pledge to contribute generously to our monthly collection. Thank you for your support.

Good Shepherd Ministries The annual drive this Year is for men’s under-

wear sizes medium & large. Packaged dona-tions are gratefully accepted after weekend masses at the back of the Church over the next couple weekends. Thank you for your sup-port to help keep the homeless warm this win-ter.

Municipal Elections A municipal election will be held on Monday, Octo-ber 27, 2014. All Catholics are strongly encouraged to exercise their democratic right to vote. To help us all get to know the candidates for Catholic School Board Trustee, Cardinal Collins has given permis-sion for candidates to distribute literature to parish-ioners departing Mass on weekends from September 27/28 to October 25/26. We hope you’ll take the time to get to know those seeking elected office. To ensure your vote for Catholic School Trustee, at the polling booth, verify that you are registered as a separate school supporter. If your support status is incorrect ask for an Application to Amend Voters' List. This form may be completed and submitted at the polling station. Thank you for your inter-est and involvement in this fall’s municipal election!

Volunteers Risk Management Our parish started the Volunteer Screening program a few months ago and the process has proven to be more time consuming than we expected. However, we are very proud to inform the community that our team is now preparing to begin the process of con-tacting all existing volunteers in order to have everyone counted under this program which is mandated by Ontario Law and Archdiocesan law. If you have not done so already, please take a moment to fill out the form below to let us know if you are pres-ently volunteering in any capacity whatso-ever. We appreciate your cooperation.

God is ever with us to strengthen us, and to pardon and lift us up again, if through human weakness we stumble on the road. God is calling us right now, inviting us to work in His vine-yard, inviting us to say “Yes” to Him with our words and actions. Let us accept God’s invita-tion by purifying our hearts in the sacrament of reconciliation; by resolving to put words into actions each morning before stepping out of bed; and by declaring interiorly that people will be able to identify us as followers of Christ simply by our Christian actions and not by empty words or pious gestures. In this way, we shall live a life filled with the joy that doing the will of the Father brings.

Upcoming Work at St Jude’s We have a number of projects up-coming that we need assistance with – either by the donation of time, materials or both. Have a look at the list below and let the office

know how you can help – we can’t do it without YOU!

Refinishing the floors of the church: Re-moval and re-install of pews; Removal of carpet and vinyl tile; Grinding of floor Sealing floor with epoxy.

Painting: We have many areas of the build-ing - inside and out - that are in need of painting. In some cases the walls are going

to need to be washed or treated first due to past water issues. -we need donations of paint and cleaning materials such as the TSP cleaner, drop sheets and plastic for covering items, paint-er’s tape, rolls, brushes, and paint trays

Constructing – Carpentry and Drywall: We have some projects involving putting up metal studs, drywall, tape, mud and sanding.

Caulking work: Many of our windows and door frames need the caulking replaced.

Pipe Wrap: We have heating and water pipes that still need to be insulated.

Tile work: We have areas where both vinyl and ceramic tile needs to be repaired or re-

placed.

Masonry: Some of our brickwork need tuck pointing, some exterior walls need attention. We’ll need bricks, mortar and someone who is a brick layer for this work

Electrical: *We have lights to put in, others to move around, and wiring needing to be done for various projects.

Security & Life Safety: As you’ve seen from the signs on the doors, we’ve had to imple-ment some controls around our accessibility. It has always been in the plans to improve our security. We’re also going to be replac-ing our fire alarm system.

Help St. Jude’s Parish complete the projects with your Talent and Time
