With all this rain, I guess March rain will bring April flowers. I am looking forward to enjoying all the spring flowers. This month has been a trying situation. As you know all day and evening activities have been cancelled. The last day for taxes was March 19th. Thank you to our Volunteers for helping our Members, Clients and Community to help preparing their taxes. We are run-ning with a small staff answering phones and helping with re-sources. Phones are monitored Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 2 pm. If you need to leave a message we will get back with you on the next business day. During this time, please put your family first – tell them how much you love them and how much we need each other. During this time stay at home when you are ill, avoid contact with people who are sick, get adequate sleep, wash your hands often and with warm water and soap for 20 seconds or longer, dry hands with a clean towel or air dry your hands, cover your mouth with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneez-ing, avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands or after touching surfaces, clean and disinfect high tough surfaces often, call before visiting your doctor, and practice good hy-giene habits. Call your friends and neighbors to make sure they are alright. We will be assessing the situation by April 6th. Just remember our Staff, our Members and our Clients are foremost on our minds and in our hearts. As for April Activities, we will be postponing our Volunteer Appreci-ation luncheon. Pending date will be May 1st. We will keep every-one informed as to when we will reopen and services will be back On a bright note, there are Cash Raffle Tickets. The Cash Raffle has been sponsored by Edward Jones. We will draw the winner at the Annual Membership meeting on June 25th. First place will win $75.00; Second Place will win $50.00 and Third Place will win $25.00. Thanks to Edward Jones. Remember to keep in phone contact with your family, friends and neighbors. And too this will pass.

The OSHIIP-certified Care Coordination staff can guide you through the complicated Medicare process. Before you turn 65 or
change an existing Medicare plan, make an appointment to discuss your options. The staff also directs clients to sources for
house and yard work, transportation, personal care, shopping, meals, and home health care. In addition, they provide crisis inter-
vention for eviction, food, utility shut-off, and family issues. You might be surprised how they can help you. Reach Care Coordina-
tion at: 878-4141, extension 215. We are in need of volunteers! We have updated Senior Housing list and Handyman list.

I HOPE ALL OF YOU HAVE WEATHERED THE SHELTERING IN PLACE SO FAR WITHOUT
TOO MUCH PROBLEM. WE ARE STILL HERE ONLY WITH A SMALLER CREW AND EVEN
WHILE WE AREN’T ALLOWED TO DO ANY HOME VISITS RIGHT NOW. YOU CAN REACH
US BY PHONE AND HOPEFULLY YOUR NEEDS CAN BE FILLED.
I HAVE TO LET YOU KNOW THERE ARE NO MORE HEAP APPLICATIONS THAT WILL BE
ACCEPTED AFTER THE MARCH 31ST DEADLINE AND THE COMMUNITY ACTION PART-
NERSHIP PEOPLE STOPPED COMING TO OUR CENTER AT THE END OF FEBRUARY.
They may be taking applications, however, they have not gotten any authorization on
that yet. I believe they have their building back in working order. The Winter Crisis Pro-
gram is over with which normally means they will not be doing any shut offs during
that period of time. However, with the sheltering in place going on presently I under-
stand the public utilities are not doing any shut offs while that is going on due to the
economic hardship it is presenting to many people. YOU MAY CALL 937-376-7747
FOR THE XENIA OFFICE AND THE DAYTON HEADQUARTERS OFFICE IS 937-341-5000.
You may call to ask about any other assistance going on for utilities. The PIPP Plus
and Weatherization Programs are ongoing throughout the year.

We are fine for donations of Durable Medical Equipment. The only donation of anything that we
really need are the type of walkers with the seat attached. We have plenty of everything else and
we have no more room to store any more items. Thank you very much if you have donated any-
thing to us because that is how we can keep the loan program going. If you have borrowed any-
thing and no longer need it we would appreciate your returning the items whatever it may be.
The free time to change Medicare Advantage Plans ended March 31st as well. Unless
you just qualified for some Extra Help, or one of the Medicare Savings Programs, you
will not be allowed to change any Medicare Advantage Plans of standalone Drug Plans
either. You will have to keep what you have until Open Enrollment comes back Octo-
ber 15th which will allow you to choose different plan to begin January 1, 2021. We
continue to be here to help you with Medicare and Medicaid questions as always.
There is help for the same things at the Greene County Council on Aging 888-795-
8600 or 937-376-5547. OSHIIP in Columbus is 1-800686-1578.
Hopefully with Spring upon us we will be able to get out to enjoy the sunshine and
flowers, nature abounds. Please do follow the advice of our Governor Mike DeWine
and his staff in keeping yourself and others safe. The old saying goes “Better safe
than sorry”.

HOORAY, Spring Has Arrived? We Hope! Unfortunately, FOG could still be a major problem in the
mornings. If it does make driving unsafe, we will have to cancel rides until it lifts, and it is SAFE
to begin transporting clients. IF we must cancel your ride, we will notify you after 07:30 AM and
prior to your pickup time.
We also need your HELP! Do you know someone who is sixty (60) years old or older that lives in
Fairborn or Bath Township and IS NOT a member of your Fairborn Senior Center? If you do, they
DO NOT get our Monthly Newsletter! That also means they may not know about your Fairborn
Senior Center’s Transportation Services. Please ask them if they could use transportation to
medical appointments, grocery shopping, or general shopping at any of the Fairborn stores or the
Mall. How about getting transportation to the bank or credit union, a beauty or barber shop, or
maybe to visit a relative or friend in the hospital? Just tell them to give us a call at the Senior
Center, 878-4141 and ask for Transportation Services, to get a client sign-up package sent
out. Signing up doesn’t cost anything but is required for us to provide the transportation they
may need. After they are signed up as a client, all they must do is call us and get booked for their
ride. Now that you have done your non-member friend a favor, ask yourself if you could use our
transportation services? If you could and aren’t yet signed up as a client, just follow your own
recommendation and give us a call to get your own sign-up package. Then we can provide you
the transportation you might need. Oh yes, remember, WE DO bring our clients into your Fairborn
Senior Center for activities and fellowship! Maybe your non-member friend would like to join you
here for the activities and fellowship. All they have to do is fill out a membership application
(available from our receptionist) and pay the $20.00 annual fee and they too will get their own
copy of the newsletter and the same benefits, of the Fairborn Senior Center activities and fellow-
ship that you get. THANKS for your HELP in getting the word out about our services.
