SZABIST Larkana offers degrees in two disciplines: Computing and Management Sciences. UnderManagement Sciences SZABIST Larkana offers BBA BSAF, MBA programs whereas in Computingwe offer BSCS.

ADMISSIONS, ORIENTATION AND CONVOCATION 2017-2018
At SZABIST Larkana Campus, admissions are held bi-annually i.e. in August (Fall semester) and in
January (Spring semester), respectively. The admission process comprises of computerized test,
interview and orientation. The first bi-annual Orientation (Fall 2017) was organized on 2nd September
2017. The HoC Dr. Zahida Azam and Mr. Abdul Razzak Soomro (Member BoT), spoke to students
about SZABIST values and urged students to work hard in their new scholastic journey with
SZABIST Larkana.
The second bi-annual Orientation (Spring 2018) was held on 5th February, 2018 at the Campus. The
Head of Campus, HoDs, Program Managers, Faculty and Staff welcomed new students. The HoC Dr.
Zahida Azam, spoke to students about SZABIST policies and culture. She enlightened the new intake
about SZABIST vision, mission and core values.
SZABIST Larkana Campus 12th Convocation: Under the leadership of HoC Larkana campus,
successfully planned, organized and executed the 12th Convocation on January 27th, 2018. In total
117 students were graduated in this convocation and almost 500 guests participated along with the
members of press and media.

EXECUTIVE DEVELOPMENT CENTER (EDC) - LARKANA CAMPUS
The EDC department facilitates students and alumni in all their academic and professional ventures
easing to climb their career ladder and success.

JOB AND INTERNSHIP PLACEMENTS
EDC acts as a liaison between the students and the industry by providing access to the
opportunities otherwise invisible for the students studying and those recently graduated. EDC
acts as a bridge between the industry requirement of human resource and academic output.
EDC organized internships for 93 students in various organizations such as SBP, Coke, TCS,
Siemens Pakistan, SSGC, UBL, MCB, Bank Alfalah, Sindh Education foundation, Gul
Ahmed Textile Karachi, and PTCL.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT:
The primary motive of the Institute is to strengthen and providing resources for sustainability and
success of research & development projects. Secondly, in order to become the mainstay in policy
making by providing excellence in research and academia. Moreover, to promote a culture of research
and development, the Institute invested in various research and development projects, developed
state-of-the-art scientific and technological research laboratories, and also have hired highly qualified
personnel.
QEC CELL:
Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) had started its operations at SZABIST Larkana campus in January
2015. Recently new QEC in charge Mr. Sartaj Ahmed Sangi has replaced Mr. Mahendre Kumar, and
will be responsible for assessing, improving the quality of academic and administrative operations
at the campus. QEC Larkana has also been working and updating the Self-Assessment Reports
(SARs) of BBA, BSCS and MBA programs.

RESEARCH CENTRE COMMITTEE:
Campus has formed a research committee which comprised of Six (6) team members chaired by Head
of Campus. This research committee will guide, design, and implement the future research endeavors
in the campus. The committee would work as a bridge between the different stakeholders in order to
achieve the research and development targets of the year 2017-2018.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CONSULTANCY ACTIVITIES:
SZABIST Larkana Campus encourages faculty members to involve in different research and
development activities such as research publication, National and International Research and
conferences, workshops and trainings. Further, faculty also has provided supervision to students as
their advisors.
RESEARCH CENTER:
Research Center has been established, and team is working on developing its objectives, ToRs and
operational plan in line with SZABIST mission and vision. The research center will also cater the
research needs of community and the policy maker of the Sindh province on the micro and macro
levels. The research center will be equipped with latest research databases and trends that will help
to train, community, students and the faculty in research.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES AND EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS:
STUDENT’S ACTIVITIES AND EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS:
The highlights of activities organized at SZABIST Larkana Campus are distributed in students’
achievements, student society events and trips, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and
department specific activities.
Various activities had been conducted; the main activities are highlighted as under
USA Fulbright Scholarship: An online seminar was organized on 14th March, 2018 by
SZABIST Management. The speaker from USA Fulbright Scholarship program announced
details of the program to students and provided information about opportunities of higher
education in various USA universities.
Seminar of Entrepreneurial Mind Set and Creativity: A seminar organized for students of
MBA 90 and 36 E (entrepreneurship, Organizational development) speaker Dr. Nadeem
Ahmed Bhatti from Canada, consultant trainer in Ministry of Defense Saudi Arabia
enlightened students about contemporary business practices.
Pakistan Air Force Career Counseling Seminar: On 19th Sept. 2017, EDC Department of
SZABIST Larkana Campus arranged a seminar with the collaboration of SZABIST Student
Council (SSC). The speaker was Major Raz, who delivered a lecture on the scope of Business

Administration Degree in Pakistan Air Force and availability of various jobs for business
graduates.
Short Essay Competition: A short essay competition was held on 26th April, 2018 for BSCS
classes. The event was arranged to promote competitive culture amongst students of
SZABIST Larkana.
One-day Workshop on Entrepreneurship "How to Start New Business". CEO –
Entrepreneur, Mr. Friedrich Christian Bohmler Munich Germany (Trainer). The trainer
involved participating students in various activities, group discussions, presentation and brain
storming sessions for enhancing the entrepreneur skills. Date: Sunday, 11th March 2018 @
SZABIST Larkana Campus.

One-day workshop on "Achieve more with Less" was organized on April 15th 2018, This
workshop was about how to achieve more with less - boosting business productivity. The
trainer Zahid Ahmed Qazi was Admin/HR Manager Engro Foods Sukkur. The Workshop
covered a wide range of practices that will have help students in carry out their tasks
effectively.
SMEDA Workshop: A workshop on “ENTREPRENEURSHIP” was organized on 2nd May,
2018 for MBA 90 E, BBA-VIII and MBA 36 (I, II & III). The trainer Mr. Imran, Head of
Incubation Center, IBA Karachi conducted the session.

Students of BBA II, BBA VII and MBA VI with collaboration of SSC organized a guest
speaker session on 18th October, 2017 for Breast Cancer awareness “PINK DAY” among
students. Dr. Saira Fatima (MBBS, FCPS) from CMC Larkana presented and provided
thoughtful insights to students on causes, prevention, and treatment of Breast cancer.

Workshop titled “Advance Excel Techniques for Managers” on 11-12th May, 2018 was conducted
by Mr. Muhammad Azam. Students as well as staff attended workshop.
Mehfil-e-Saqafat: was organized on 25th Nov 2017 by the students of BBA, MBA BS to
celebrate the colors of Sindhi traditions and pay tribute to the local culture.
A competition Neuro Warfare’17 was held in Sukkur IBA on 27th and 28th Nov 2017 where
SZABIST Larkana students also participated in three main competitions (Case Study, Bloomberg
Financial Software, and Advertisement) from which the Bloomberg Financial Software team won
the 3rd Prize.

Fun Mania: An exhibition “Fun Mania” was organized by the students of BBA-IV on 26th April,
2018.The exhibition was to be for full day, where students from various classes and faculty members
visited different stalls set-up by the BBA-IV class. The purpose of the activity was to make students
learn about Retail Merchandising practice.
SMILE with SZABIST: BBA II students along with Marketing Department have
organized one-day activity on 5th Aug, 2017 with under privileged community of Larkana.
Meal Boxes distributed among 100 children.

Poster Evaluation on Personal Digital Assistant (PDA): BSCS – IV students carried out an activity in
Human Computer Interaction subject on 23rd Nov, 2017 where students surveyed about the reasons of
discontinuity of PDA. The purpose of this activity was to demonstrate the ease of interfaces and functionalities
of PDA at different era with comparison of Smart Phone Technology.

MARKETING ACTIVITIES
MARKETING DEPARTMENT:
This department plan activities, advertising and promotion campaigns that support SZABIST
programs, services, and special events. Marketing Department maintains social media presence of
SZABIST on various mediums like Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, etc.
Survey
During the year the Marketing Department conducted a survey on how SZABIST should promote
itself. Target audience of this survey was potential students seeking admissions for higher studies.
The focus of this survey was to determine the effective marketing strategies and identify the best
approach for promoting and maintaining SZABIST brand image and identity.
Website
On-going maintenance and updating of the website is a core responsibility of the Marketing
Department. Furthermore, the department provides information pertaining to promotional events,
news, achievements of students’ etc., as well as, press releases of SZABIST events with pictures on
a regular basis.
CALENDAR AND SZAB’NINGS
The Marketing Department is responsible for designing the Institute’s calendar and provides
information pertaining to events, students’ achievement, pictures, for the newsletter SZAB’nings.
The SZAB’nings editor is currently the Marketing Officer.
MEDIA COVERAGE
The Marketing Department in collaboration with other departments hosts events including talk shows
and seminars. Moreover, the media coverage for SZABIST events is being promoted on a regular
basis, in all leading newspapers, such as; DAWN, Express Tribune, Jang, Business Recorder and
various other television and radio channels.
