Exams/Grading Policy:

Exams may consist of multiple choice questions, short answer questions, essays and short problems. There will be NO MAKE UP ONLINE EXAMS given for any reason. If for an EMERGENCY reason you must miss an exam, the instructor must be notified BEFORE the scheduled exam or a grade of zero will be assigned. Exams taken at other than scheduled times must be taken in person. Contact to schedule a time with instructor prior to the online scheduled day and time.

4

Your grade will be determined on the basis of the number of cumulative points scored on assignments, exams, and class project. The points will be weighted as follows:

Comprehensive Final 200 points – This exam is required on campus On Line Exams (4 x 50) 200 points – Lowest score of these exams may be dropped if it helps your grade. Interactive Presentations 60 points Homework 95 points Class Project 25 points TOTAL 580 points (If an online exam is dropped, this is 530)

Note: Homework, Online Exams and IP's & Learn Smart will be administered via Connect Plus (see

below). The Final Exam is a proctored exam on campus. Except for Learn Smart © Assignments as

noted below, extra credit is not available for this class. Answering specific assigned Discussion Board

Questions will compose the Group Project. Details will be announced during the course.

Grades are determined as follows Points % Letter Grade

(522 -580) 90-100 A (464 -521) 80-89 B (406 -463) 70-79 C (348 -405) 60-69 D ( 0 - 347) below 60 F

Note: If an online exam is dropped, the denominator for total points is 530 and the percentages remain but the points change accordingly (ie: for an A, points would be (477 – 530 etc.) Remember that if an exam is dropped, the points for that exam are not counted in your total points.

Extra Credit – Learn Smart © Assignments are assigned 5 point per chapter so there are 60

extra credit points (12 chapters x 5 pts each). These and their due dates are located on the Connect

website. Please note that the due date for all Learn Smart © Assignments is at the end of the semester

so you will have them available to study for the final exam. You should study the appropriate chapter

and complete Learn Smart© Assignments weekly to help learn the material. It will improve your

exam scores and points earned can raise your grade by up to one grade level.

Course Policies, Procedures and Assignments The instructor assumes you have the requisite computer skills to successfully complete this course. This includes (at least) proficiency with Microsoft Office and access to the Internet.

• Each chapter will have a series of exercises and problems which will be performed through CONNECT. Generally, Exercises are worth 1 points each and Problems are worth 2.5 points each. The Interactive Presentations are worth 5 points per chapter. The point value for each question in CONNECT is listed at the beginning of each question. Since CONNECT has been set up to help you with the homework with hints, links to the eBook, videos and check your answers to the problems, there is no reason for not achieving all of the available points.

These may be scheduled if there are an excessive amount of “Raise your hand” Discussion Board questions and the instructor feels it is necessary to reinforce certain topics.
