ThiscoursemeetstheFloridaStateBoardofEducationRuleNumber6A10.30.Inaccordancewiththisrule,studentswillcompletesixsemesterhoursofEnglishandsixsemesterhoursofadditionalcourseworkinwhichthestudentmustdemonstratecollegelevelwritingskills.AgradeofCorbetterisrequiredforcreditinGordonRuleclasses.

ResearchProjectResearchProject(withOralPresentation):Thisisamultipartprojectconsistingofaprojectproposal(about200wordsinformal,partofyourplanning),aneightitemannotatedbibliography(minimum2,000wordsincludingbibliographiccitations),scholarlyarticlesummary,roughdrafts,andafinaldraftproposal/researchessay(minimum3,000words)plusreferencespage.Additionally,basedonsecondaryresearch,youwillconductprimaryresearchandberesponsibleforproposingaresearchtool,collectingprimarydata,andrepresentingthatdatainaposterandfinalpaper.Youwillchooseaproblemthatisimportantorinterestingtoyouandproposeasolutiontoit.Then,youwillresearch/exploreanddevelopanorganized,coherentargumentthatisdefendedwithevidencefromatleasteightexternalsources,includingbooks,articles,essays,videos,surveysorpolls,interviews,crediblewebsites.TheUSFlibraryshouldserveasyourprimaryresource.Wikipedia,funthoughitmaybe,isnotacrediblesourceandshouldbeusedforexplorationpurposesonly,notasadocumentedsource.You'llbeusingAPAformatanddocumentation.Throughoutthisproject,you'lldevelopathesisandofferasolutiontoyourtopic,supportingyourclaimswithpublished,authoritativeinformation.
