Welcome to summer 2013

It’s been twelve years since we launched our first whitewater helmet; the Strutter. We are on a relentless pursuit of performance in everything we do, and we want to improve every year. Now, we re stoked to show you our summer 2013 whitewater collection.

For summer 2012 we introduced totally re-designed versions of our classic whitewater helmets, utilizing new protection technologies; CRP SHELL TECHNOLOGY (CRP = Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer Shell), TLC shell technology (TLC = Thermoplastic Laminated Carbon Fiber) and LFT SHELL TECHNOLOGY (LFT = Long Fiber Thermoplastic). These are just some of the materials and protection technologies that we apply to make our helmets stronger, lighter and better. When you crash, we guarantee that we’ve put everything into our products to help keep you in play.

Based on feedback from our team of paddlers and our dealers, the summer 2013 helmets have been tuned to optimize performance.

We have revised our collection of technical whitewater clothing, with the industry leading Prophecy Dry Top and Pant, the Shadrach Dry Top and the Shambala Paddle Shorts, to make the products even more functional for long and great days on the river.

ABOUT US

Sweet Protection was founded in 2000. Based out of the small village of Trysil, in the midst of the Norwegian wilderness and close to the mountains, we have developed helmets, protection equipment and technical clothing for action sports ever since.

We were a group of friends, skiing and snowboarding in the winter, whitewater kayaking and mountain biking in the summer. As our skills progressed, we got more and more product oriented. We made our own products, tested them, modified them and then tested more until we got them right. Some would call us product geeks and we guess they are right.

The focus has always been to have fun and progress together with good friends, but when it comes to our products, we are damn serious.

With heart, talent and attitude, we create the best equipment possible. This is our mission!

By carefully laminating fibers with different properties and directions, we’re able to create a super light, optimized helmet shell. An invention from the cold war put to good use.

tlc shell technologY (TLC = Thermoplastic Laminated Carbon Fiber)TLC (Thermoplastic Laminated Carbon fiber) is a brand new technology developed by Sweet Protection that combines the elasticity of injection molded thermoplastic with the rigidity and strength of carbon fiber. This technology enables a very effective fine tuning of the properties needed in different zones of the cranium for optimized performance.

The Strutter is a whitewater icon, re-engineered with vast improvements to fit and performance. The new generation Strutter (2012) significantly improves (30%) the performance compared to the previous generation Strutters*.

Our revolutionary LFT shell technology (Long Fiber Thermoplastic) offers a great combination of elasticity and rigidity, and the ultra rigid internal carbon fiber frontal shell strengthens the helmet and covers your temples. The original award winning baseball cap style shell protects the face from impacts, water splashes and sun glare.

A computerized 3-dimentional shape provides legendary comfort and fitting. Also, a special version of our OCCIGRIP tensioning system has been developed to go with the special Strutter helmet shape. Two incredibly tough Polyamide legs are securely fixed to the carbon fiber shell, offering an amazing, adjustable fit.

The Strutter offers great, low-volume protection for river running and playboating.

A dependable all-round performer with superior protection capabilities. The Wanderer is engineered with the durable and super impact resistant ABS SHELL and further strengthened with our CRP SHELL TECHNOLOGY on strategic areas. The small beak keeps water and sun out of your eyes and offers protection.

The low volume, neck-hugging OCCIGRIP tensioning system makes for a perfect personalized fit. Charge and stay cool with DIRECT VENTILATION and the COOLMAX liner.

Introduced in 2008, the Wanderer is already established as a whitewater classic and a team favorite. It is a great piece of protection equipment for all-round river use.

rocKer hc01. aBout

The very best protection offered for the roughest conditions! The Rocker HC is designed with our new and extremely dependable TLC SHELL TECHNOLOGY (Thermoplastic Laminated Carbon fiber). TLC combines the elasticity of injection-molded thermoplastic with the rigidity and strength of carbon fiber. This enables us to effectively tune the shell for different properties in different areas. The shell is softer in the crown area, which due to the rigid spherical geometry is better for impacts, and stiffer along the sides where the larger radius benefits from the rigid carbon fiber. Carbon fiber represents more than half of the total area of the new top shell.

Our neck-hugging OCCIGRIP tensioning system provides a secure fit, and with the COOLMAX liner you´ll stay tranquil when it gets though.

The Rocker HC is a high performance helmet for the roughest conditions. Shatter proof visor and earpads are included.

The very best protection offered for the roughest conditions! The Rocker FF is a full coverage helmet that offers the most extensive protection available. It has all the amazing Rocker HC features, but we’ve added a low profile composite jaw guard that prevents you from emptying your pockets for new teeth when shit happens. The unique jaw guard construction flexes under great loads to reduce forces applied to the neck.

This beast is a proven performer for gnarly creeking.

The GORE-TEX® membrane is the heart of all GORE-TEX® products. It contains over 9 billion microscopic pores per square inch. These pores are 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet, but 700 times larger than a water vapor molecule, which makes the GORE-TEX® membrane completely waterproof from the outside, while allowing perspiration to escape from the inside. An oleophobic, or oil-hating, substance is integrated into the membrane, preventing the penetration of body oils and insect repellent that could otherwise affect the membrane.

3-layer gOre-TeX® Pro shell

GORE-TEX® Pro Shell is the optimal solution for professional outerwear to be used under extremely tough conditions.

The 3-layer construction comprises of a specific high performance GORE-TEX® membrane, bonded to a tough outer material and a specially developed, robust woven inner lining. The result is an extremely rugged and durable laminate, made to meet the demands of outdoor professionals and serious enthusiasts.

To ensure 3-Layer GORE-TEX® Pro Shell fabrics perform to consumers` expectations, we have tested the waterproofness and breathability in laboratory conditions very similar to intensive field use, (as well as our mandatory extensive outdoor tests performed on each product). The result: 3-Layer GORE-TEX® Pro Shell fabrics are not only extremely breathable, but also remain absolutely waterproof after more than 500 hours of wet flex and abrasion tests.

The GORE-TEX® material used in the Shadrach dry top is especially engineered for use in water, and is far more rugged than regular Performance Shell. The Polyamide shell and the knitted backer is chosen for its softness and durability. This makes this fabric an excellent choice for playboating where great freedom of movement is crucial. Guaranteed waterproofness and breathability for a whole day on your favorite run.

It´s made from the most durable, rugged GORE-TEx® Pro Shell material available, and it´s Guaranteed to keep you dry®.

Due to a fully computerized 3D-design it has got excellent fit and unsurpassed freedom of movement.

Store what you want to keep dry in the two large zipped chest pockets and get ready to charge.

This the most performance oriented dry pant ever made! The Prophecy Dry Pant is designed specifically to complement the Prophecy Dry Top and shares the same GORE-TEx® Pro Shell material for excellent durability and performance.

It´s designed to provide an unrestricted position in the kayak, and it comes with an extra high, super sturdy elastic Yamamoto Neoprene Waist Barrel that overlaps perfectly with the Prophecy Dry Top.

The Shambala Paddle Shorts is a technical piece of whitewater equipment, designed to complement our dry tops. They are constructed to provide an excellent fit while seated, and feature a neoprene liner for warmth. The legs are extended over the knees for padding and protection.
