As with any medical facility, a high performance roof system for

the newly constructed Swedish Hospital was critical to protect

the patients, medical equipment, and hygienic environment. But

in addition the design team at Collins Woerman and the

hospital's owners wanted to incorporate plazas and a vegetated

system in the interest of general wellness and the environment.

Complicating the project were the winter weather and the

accelerated construction schedule.

Collins Woerman designed roofing and waterproofing systems

to meet all of Swedish Hospital's needs. Time-proven Siplast

Paradiene 20 EG/30 FR TG and liquid-applied Parapro PMMA

flashing were chosen for the main roof areas. A protected

Paradiene 20 EG/20 TG system with a paver overburden was

used to waterproof pedestrian access areas, and Teranap was

used to waterproof the green roof. Snyder Roofing of

Washington, a Siplast Select Contractor, completed the project

within the tight time frame. The Siplast systems will protect

Swedish Hospital and its patients for years to come.
