Mission: We provide a supportive and positive learn-
ing experience in which members are empowered to
develop communication and leadership skills, result-
ing in greater self-confidence and personal growth.
Lunch Hour Meetings: We meet at South Georgia
State College, Waycross Campus, James Dye Student
Services Building on Wednesdays at noon.
Membership: Open to anyone 18 years old and older.

Grammar Corner
One role of the Grammarian at a
Toastmasters meeting is to bring a
word for the day and listen for its
usage throughout the meeting.
These are some words we have
used at past club meetings:
froward = contrary, misbehaving
nitpick = critical of inconsequential
details
petulant = sulky, bad tempered
spurious= fake, false, inauthentic

Kudos to Toastmasters
Bud Montero, a Toastmaster for 15
years, used skills learned as a club
member to give comfort and closure to
a family. He had the honor of deliver-
ing theeulogyfor a friend and church
member. Linda Zechmann was a
special guest at a meeting of the Oke-
fenokee Ladies Golf Association
(OLGA). She opened the meeting with
her hilarious Toastmasters speech ti-
tled, The Mother-in-law from Hell.
Anna Pinderwill use her Toastmas-
ters skills on the stage at the Ritz
Theater in October. Shell be acting in
The Dixie Swim Club.

These are The Comedians in Georgia
Toastmasters Area 74 who competed in the
Humorous Speech Contest on Friday even-
ing in Valdosta.Wayne Caffarel and Rod-
ney Hooks were outstanding representa-tives of Okefenokee Toastmasters Club
(standing in the back 3rd and 4th left re-
spectively). Estel Powell, Title Town Toast-
masters, in the white wig and jacket, was
the winner.
