Once a year, the UK’s leading logistics companies come together to celebrate the industry’s achievements, innovations and quality at the Motor Transport Awards. This year’s ceremony was particularly special as it was the Award’s 25th anniversary. An audience of 1,500 came to London's Grosvenor House Hotel to see Suttons win the Safety in Operation Award and with customer Mexichem Fluor, the Partnership Award. It's the fourth time in ten years that Suttons has won the Safety in Operation Award, with praise from the judges for our "clear commitment to safety." It is difficult for any company to win an award more than once, but the judges said Suttons’ 2011 entry “builds impressively on our previous awards.” The Partnership Award recognises Suttons’ relationship with fluorine supplier Mexichem Fluor. The two companies have worked together for over 15 years with Mexichem's fleet of over 1,000 isotanks being managed and operated by Suttons. Andrew Palmer, Group Managing Director of Suttons, who accepted the awards from comedian Michael McIntyre and broadcaster Chris Tarrant said: "To win the safety award four times is a fantastic achievement, but going forward we are not complacent and will continue to work hard to further improve safety performance. "As a logistics service provider, building relationships with all our customers is key and the judges recognised the effectiveness and mutual success of our relationship with Mexichem Fluor." Suttons Got Talent!

I felt very proud of everyone at Suttons when I hadthe privilege of collecting two Motor TransportAwards on behalf of the Group. Both awards reflectthe commitment and efforts of a large number ofpeople over a sustained period of time. For the firsttime, we received the Partnership Awardrecognising Suttons relationship with Mexichem. This is an excellent achievement by Steve Lonsdale

and his team who have worked closely withMexichem to continuously develop and improvetheir supply chain.

Winning the Safety in Operation Award for thefourth time in ten years is a record for any entrantto these awards and an outstanding achievementfor Suttons. But whilst winning awards bringsdeserved recognition, it also means that we notonly have to maintain our position but also moveahead and further improve our performance. Wewant to maintain and build on the effectiverelationships we have with all our customers toconsistently meet their business objectivesincluding safety, quality, delivery service and cost.

As a logistics service provider, we are only ever asgood as our last successful delivery. That means wehave to continuously improve on what we do. Suttonsbusiness reputation is built on safe operation, and weplace safety above all our responsibilities. Everybodyin Suttons has responsibility for safe operation, including accepting responsibility for their ownpersonal safety behaviour.

I very much hope that in the future, Suttons receivesmore recognition for the performance of its people. But more importantly, I hope we continue to expandour customer relationships and that our safetyperformance continues to improve so that we arerecognised as the safest global logistics company.
