Andhra Pradesh is the citadel of chilli cultivation in Indiaand to be more explicit, the world's largest chilliproducing tract.The chillimarket ofGuntur is the world'slargest single agriculture commodity market. As a majorcrop, India produces over 13 lakhs tonnes of chilliesfrom over eight lakh hectares and exports less than threelakh tonnes to different world markets. Alongside theprincipal tract ofAndhra Pradesh, there are other regionsin Kamataka, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh whichare also contributing substantially to the production ofchillies quantitatively and qualitatively.
