Okay, let’s begin with something fun… how about Homework!

Homework

0Let’s face it, whether you like it or not, you are going to get homework-lots of it.

0The best way to stop yourself becoming overwhelmed, is by completing your homework the day it is set.

0That way, when the weekend comes, you’ll have very little, or no homework to do at all!

0This can be a big ask, I know, but it is the best way to stay organised- and being organised in secondary school is very important.

Homework

0 If you ever find homework difficult then call a friend, or talk to the teacher during your free time, they should be willing to help you out.

0Remember we live in the 21st century, the computer has been invented, so if you find the methods mentioned above a real chore then ask Google for help. He’s always available.

Friends

0You might start secondary school with friends you knew from primary school.

0This can be an advantage because it means you’ll not be lonely.

0This can be a disadvantage if you want to move away from their crowd and start afresh.

Friends

0 If you start secondary school without any of your old friends then don’t panic.

0There’ll be others just like you.

0Start talking to people from the very first day, smile and wave when you see them and making friends should not be a problem!

Loneliness

0 It is something we all dread, but being lonely in secondary school can and does happen.

0 Sometimes it isn’t you. It can be other people who refuse to accept change.

0 There isn’t any point in worrying.0 Start talking to people who seem friendly.0 There will be others who are also in need of a friend so look

out for them too!0 If you find that none of the above helps then speak to a

parent or teacher about it. 0 Don’t keep quiet about it.

TeachersThere will be teachers who love you.

And teachers who hate you.

You can’t please them all!

Teachers, remember, are people, like you and I. They don’t enjoy having to shout over a noisy class, or waiting behind after school with unruly pupils.

So ensure that you are on your best behaviour in lessons, and you won’t have a problem with any of them!

Exams

0You will have many tests during secondary school.0 It is important that you do well in all of them.0When you are told you will be having a test, don’t

leave revision until the last minute.0Begin by doing half an hour each day, taking down

notes, or repeating important points to memorise them.

0Get plenty of rest and eat healthily the day before the exam and you will do perfectly fine!

Detention

0Urgh detentions…nobody wants those.0So avoid them by…0Completing all homework for its due date0Arriving on time to school and lessons0Ensuring that you have all the books and equipment

you need for each day packed in your bag the previous night

0Staying out of trouble!!!

Good Luck!

0Trust me secondary school won’t be easy but if you work hard, you’ll be very pleased with the results!

0 If you have older siblings or friends ask them about their secondary school experiences, and their advice.

0 If you ever have any problems at school, your parents/guardians/teachers are always there to offer help and support.

0Good Luck- a secondary school student!
