Each year, the Career Services department of SUNY Erie Community College produces a collegewide statistical analysis of its graduates to provide employment and transfer-related outcomes. The results allow potential students the opportunity to see where SUNY Erie students go directly after graduation. Additionally, the Survey serves as one measure of how effective SUNY Erie is in fulfilling its overall mission. The follow-up and tracking of each graduate was conducted by the Career Services staff at each of the campuses, following the best practices and standards of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). The office initiated its contact of certified graduates approximately six months after graduation from records provided by the college Registrar for the 2018 academic year. All graduates were contacted with survey questions via email and phone. In some cases when the graduate was unavailable, departments provided updated employment and transfer data. A comprehensive report from the National Student Clearinghouse also provided valuable transfer data. In place of the term “response rate,” we use the term “knowledge rate” to take into consideration that data came from various sources. Of the 2,369 degrees and certificates awarded in 2018, there was a total knowledge rate of 82.5% from the Associate Degree graduates and 83.3% from the Certificate Program graduates. A collegewide summary sheet of both degree and certificate programs are provided in this report. SUNY Erie’s Career Services department continues to work to meet the needs of our students, graduates, alumni and the business community of Western New York. We actively work with groups, organizations and agencies to provide programs and services to students and alumni. Finally, this survey continues to be a valuable tool for college faculty, administrators, school counselors, members of the Board of Trustees, students and the community at large to identify patterns of growth for the future.
