U10s TO U17s (IN 2018 SEASON)

Surrey CCC working in partnership with Surrey’s cricket clubs and schools to develop the next generation of Surrey cricketers

This document has been produced by Surrey CCC’s Performance Department to help spread the word amongst cricket clubs and schools across Surrey about the upcoming Girls’ Assessment day, to which promising young girl cricketers can be nominated to attend.

If you know of any promising girls with the potential to join Surrey CCC’s Girls’ Performance Programmes, please do nominate them for the assessment later in the summer. Likewise, please do circulate this information to relevant people within your school or cricket club.

SUMMER ASSESSMENTS - AIM

This summer Surrey CCC will, once again, be running a cricket assessment day, to which cricket clubs and schools can nominate their most promising girl cricketers.

This assessment day is the first stage in identifying players for selection into one of next winter’s Girls’ County Age Group (CAG) winter training squads, which are run at U11, U13, U15 and U17 age groups.

The assessment will be held at Surrey Cricket Centre, George Abbot School.

SUMMER ASSESSMENTS - WHEN

The assessment date is Saturday 2nd September 2017.

A Nomination Form can be found at the end of this document.

Players will be invited to a specific time slot, as follows:

• U10 & U11: 9am to 12.30pm Nominated players should be aged U10 and U11 during the 2018 season (born between 1/9/06 and 31/8/08) In other words players are this year’s U9s and U10s

• U12 & U13: 1pm to 4.30pm Nominated players should be aged U12 and U13 during the 2018 season (born between 1/9/04 and 31/8/06) In other words players are this year’s U11s and U12s

• U14 & U15: 5pm to 7pm Nominated players should be aged U14 and U15 during the 2018 season (born between 1/9/02 and 31/8/04) In other words players are this year’s U13s and U14s

• U16 & U17 Nominations Nominated players should be aged U16 and U17 during the 2018 season (born between 1/9/00 and 31/8/02).

In other words players are this year’s U15s and U16s(dates & times to be confirmed for December 2017. Further information will folow in due course to those nominated)

SUMMER ASSESSMENT - HOW

Nominators from cricket clubs and schools to complete a nomination form.

Deadline for submission of nominations is Friday 25-August 2017 in order that numbers for each session can be managed appropriately. All nominated players will receive confirmation of their Assessment place, including full details of what will happen on the day.

SUMMER ASSESSMENT - OUTCOME

A number of players from this assessment day will be subsequently invited to attend a further round of Assessments, held indoors later in September 2017, alongside a number of other players who were involved in the Girls’ CAG set-up this summer.

Following completion of the Assessments we will be in a position to confirm the 2018 Girls’ CAG winter-training squads at U11, U13 and U15 age groups (which commence in January 2018).

Players from the initial Assessment day who aren’t invited to the September Assessments will be notified about Surrey CCC’s Junior Coaching Courses, and specialist girls coaching course, which run at various venues around Surrey from Oct-Dec 2017 and again from Jan-Mar 2018.

The second phase of Assessments will take place indoors over the following dates:

Saturday 23rd and 30th September 2017Timings to be confirmed in due course to those attending.

The diagram above shows the potential Player Pathway for cricketers within our programmes, from U-9 players nominated to us by schools and clubs right up to players leaving the Surrey CCC Academy and moving into the professional game.

NOTE TO NOMINATORS:

Surrey CCC requires that all players must be nominated by their cricket club or school.

Surrey CCC would encourage all nominators at their respective cricket clubs or schools to be robust in their understanding that the player does have the perceived potential to move into the Surrey CCC Player Pathway.

SURREY CCC’S GIRLS’ ASSESSMENTS 2017

The nominated players should be aged between U9 and U14 during the 2017 season (be born between 01/09/00 and 31/08/2008), in other words be aged between U10 and U17 during the 2018 season.

Junior organisers at schools and/or cricket clubs in Surrey should use this form to nominate promising young girl cricketers that they consider to be of representative cricket standard.

There is a £7 fee for attending a Girls Assessment, which can be paid on the assessment day.

Players currently part of Surrey CCC’s Girls CAG programme need not be nominated using this form. They will be invited to an appropriate Assessmentsession automatically by the Performance Department.
