Suranaree University of Technology

Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) was established in 1990 as a public autonomous university. SUT aims to produce scholars in the arts, sciences, and technology, benefiting both the individual and society. It has also been selected as one of the nine national research universities. Situated in Nakhon Ratchasima, around 240 kilometers from Bangkok, in the Northeast of Thailand, the university is easily accessible by car, bus, and train.

International Programs in English Language Studies (ELS) Our graduate programs are designed to produce professionals with capabilities in all fields related to foreign language education. The programs are international and conducted entirely in English. There is also a wide range of internationally oriented academic activities such as staff and student exchanges, joint research projects, and special guest lecturers.

1) Master of Arts Degree A Master’s degree at SUT requires two or more years of specialized study beyond bachelor’s level. The coursework emphasizes language skills development, innovative language teaching methodology, applications of technology in language teaching and professional growth, practical lan-guage analysis, and research skills. An applicant should have majored in English or should have some professional connection to the teaching of English as a foreign language. Two years of language teaching experience are required for applicants whose first degree is not English.

2) Doctor of Philosophy A research-oriented doctoral program requires three or more years of specialized study and research beyond the master’s degree. Applicants for the Ph.D. program are ex-pected to already have a Master’s degree in some related area, or if they have relevant postgraduate work experience or academic achievement, they may also be admitted with the conditions to undertake some coursework.
