- Dear Parents, Carers and Families, As part of our commitment to encouraging children to lead healthy lives, each class has organised a fitness challenge for the Spring Term. Some classes are developing a ‘Wake Up, Shake Up’ activity for younger children (‘It gets you fit, and it’s fun!’ Kyle Y5); some are doing a ‘Daily Mile’ (‘Each time you do it, you get quicker and feel fitter’ Olivia Y4); and some are undertaking the ‘Quad Kids’ athletics challenge later in the term (‘It’s exciting and we’re all looking forward to it.’ Ebony Y6). Guidelines indicate that children need 30-60 minutes moderate physical exercise over a day to maintain muscle tone and a healthy weight. Our fitness challenges are one way we are helping to achieve this. Child Safeguarding We are picking up from some of our children that they are watching, or playing, 18+ computer games, eg. Grand Theft Auto. These games are age-rated for very good reasons: children may be frightened by the content or may come to see violent/explicit content as normal or acceptable behaviour. For your child’s well-being, please can we encourage you to be vigilant of what games your children are playing or being exposed to. Thanks.
