Supervision Format Problem Solving Supervision (Adapted from Briggs & Miller, 2005) Students are expected to engage in group supervision and consultation activities with the instructor and peers during the practicum seminar. Each student will be responsible for preparing for formal case consultation with a minimum of one case over the course of the semester. The following framework will be used for these activities: Student Preparation (before seminar): Identify your goal for supervision during the seminar period. Identify specific things you would like to accomplish during the consultation. Supervisor (peers and instructor; during supervision): Help supervisee identify strengths in the work discussed. Help supervisee identify when things are going well and not well. Help supervisee identify what is different about a problem situation versus a time when they were successful. Help supervisee identify what they did, what they were hoping to accomplish, and what they might do differently in the future. Student Reflection (close of session): Rate the session on a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is the best supervision session you could possibly have. Identify what might be different in the supervision process if the session were a point or two higher.
